My name is DJ, sur name, NONEOFYOURBUSINESS; and I'm an aspiring-filmmaker. I've written 2 Feature-length screenplays and several short screenplays. Currently I'm exploring stories that lend themselves to extreme visual interpretation. As an aspiring director, I'm obsessed with visuals. The camera is a tool by which we tell our stories, and if used properly, our work can become art.
To date, my stories range in focus. I don't tie myself to any one genre, and, in fact, most of my screenplays are genre breakers; meaning they borderline several genres. At present, my focus seems to be more toward the absurd or bizarre; at times, macabre. The connection of love and death (not necrophelia you sickos) is puzzling to me, and is often a theme in my work. A theory of mine is that if love is eternal, can love be expressed even in death. Through my writing, I'm constantly exploring and trying to answer questions about life, love and death.
As a director, I'm constantly exploring means to further the art of film. Film to me IS an art form, not just a form of entertainment. It just so happens on occasion that our art does entertain. I'm not striving to be a big Hollywood player, in fact, I have no desire to work from within the Hollywood machine. My ambition is to express myself through film, and like my writing, explore questions of my own. I'm not out to make people happy or sad or entertained. If my stories or films don't touch you in some way, then they just simply aren't for you...sorry. Again, I'm not trying to reach the masses or sell out theaters or make millions. My desire is to create art, and make a living doing so. My belief is that there are enough people out there that share this interest or my interests that I could easily appeal to enough of an audience to have a career as a filmmaker.
I've always loved films, since a very young age. I've always had the ability of the fine arts. At a young age, I also enjoyed creative writing. I used to write short scary stories, and give them out to teachers and friends. I never thought much about combining the two; art and writing.
By the age of nineteen, it all clicked. And like a flashback in a movie, it just came together and made sense. I want to make films. So I ventured out to learn about the art. I started with the basics, and then looked into screenwriting. I enjoy the art, and have since made an effort to write as much as possible. While I love to write, my passion lies in filmmaking.
OK enough of the BS, if you've made it this far, I thank and apologize to you. If you are interested in seeing my work, E MAIL me at this special address. I'll gladly provide samples of my work, pending their copyright status.
