Gary's Movie Reviews and Ratings

The Cup = 65 =
A subtitled movie about young Tibetan monks and their attempts to watch the 1998 World Cup final? Actually, it's not as silly as it sounds. In fact, this movie is quite endearing and is absorbing to the point that you stop noticing the subtitles.

In addition to the simple storyline, this movie also provides a glimpse of life in a Buddhist monastery (apparently the director is an actual monk himself).

If you want to get really deep about things, then you could also say that this movie makes you wonder what it would be like to live a life as uncomplicated as these monks lead where simply being able to watch a football game on TV becomes the biggest event of the year.
