“Her hair will probably darken as she gets older,” Dixon had told him.

As he observed the carnage around him, he knew that their assurances were meaningless. The corpses of the men who had abducted his daughter littered the warehouse floor. The man who had killed them made his way through the massacre as if more concerned about his shoes than the lives lost.

“If you can’t take better care of her than this, Agent Vaughn,” Sark said, handing him the sleeping child very carefully. “I will make other arrangements.”
