Easily one of the most intense movies ever made, "Aliens" is a rollercoaster ride that has left me weary after seeing it for the first time. "Aliens" probably has more thrills-per-minute than any other horror movie from the '80's (my preferred era of movies, by the way). Just to name a few of these thrills: Motionless aliens that suddenly jump at you, the anticipation generated by the numerous blips on the motion detectors, and the increasingly claustrophobic setting. As with "Alien", the visuals are excellent and still look very futuristic even after 13 years since its release. The cast here is excellent and does a commendable job portraying their rather colorful characters. Bill Paxton shines as the whiny private Hudson, and Sigourney Weaver still makes a convincing heroine. This is the best work from James Cameron, and he would have an awfully difficult time trying to top "Aliens." So far, he hasn't done that, but, then again, who has? |

OVERALL RATING
** NOTE: The more dots, the better it is. 11 or 12 dots indicates a masterpiece worth "throwing into the VCR" while one or no dots means it's a "disasterpiece" definitely worth "throwing against the wall." ** |
