Not to be confused with the Belgian lesbian-vampiress movie "Daughters of Darkness", this is a made-for-TV movie starring Mia Sara (from "Ferris Bueller's Day Off"), and her character travels to Romania to find her long lost father. As any horror buff should already know, Romania is vampire country, and that is exactly what she finds there, along with some trouble with the secret police. The vampires here are a bit different from the normal variety. Instead of having fangs, their tongues split open to reveal bloodsucking leech-like appendages. Although the Romanian scenery and an appearance by Anthony Perkins are interesting, "Daughter of Darkness" is rather underwhelming, primarily because it's made for television (you can see several fades-to-commercials throughout the movie). The potential for horror is there, but much of it goes unrealized. The bottom line: "Daughter of Darkness" ranks about average, but Anthony Perkins is interesting to watch. |

** NOTE: The more dots, the higher the rating. A dozen dots mean that the movie is a masterpiece while one or no dots means that the movie is about as much fun as kissing a cactus. ** |
