THE INCREDIBLE MELTING MAN

Stick your hand too close to the stove and cry Atchka! Then you have a pretty good idea about the viewing experience for "The Incredible Melting Man." Actually, this is a remarkably dull horror film. The protagonist is about as interesting as a bowl full of cold oatmeal (except when he burns himself at the stove and yelps "Atchka!"), and the melting man (who gets stronger because he's melting?!) is basically a radioactive zombie with some leprosy-like problems. About the only things that break up the boredom are the makeup by Rick Baker and a few unintentionally hilarious scenes such as the elderly lemon-larcenists and the head floating down the river and over the waterfall. The head hardly seems to fit in with the rest of the movie, but it's just the kind of scene that slays me for a few minutes. Beyond that, there isn't much to recommend about this movie. As always, it's best to watch sub-par horror movies such as "The Incredible Melting Man" with Mike Nelson and his wisecracking robot pals on Mystery Science Theater 3000.

** NOTE: The more dots on the domino, the better the movie. 9-12 dots is the equivalent of two thumbs up while 3 dots or less means two thumbs up the ass. **
