"The Unborn II" starts off promising enough with a woman shooting a 7 year-old boy at a playground, but after this, it divebombs into mediocrity. Aside from the gutsy beginning, there really isn't anything here that hasn't been done better in other horror films like "It's Alive" and "Dead Alive". Although the movie is centered on a killer mutant baby, it takes a while before the baby actually starts murdering people. The baby always has the same expression and looks really funny with its few strands of long hair, its gigantic jaw, and enormous eyes. It's just too bad that the baby scenes are isolated by a bunch of uninteresting ones. Although "The Unborn II" treats you with a hilarious baby-beating scene near the end, the movie isn't consistently entertaining enough for the scene to be worth the long wait. And what's up with the spraycan in the microwave detonating right when the timer runs out? The bottom line: "The Unborn II" is a disappointment. If you want to see some bad baby mayhem, then try Larry Cohen's "It's Alive" instead. |

OVERALL RATING
** NOTE: The more dots on the domino, the higher the rating. 11 or 12 dots points to an essential item in a horror video collection. Even the dung beetles would be repelled by a movie rated with one or no dots. ** |
