Weapon names were “Anathema,” “Decimator,” “Demon Eye,” “Euthanasian,” “Sling-Slang,” “Vertliger,” and “Vivisector.” Weapon locations were the wall in the Castle of Zosgul, in the Ebony Tower, the diamond mine, the Emerald Forest, weapon shop, Cavern of Lost Souls, and the oubliette. Six of the seven weapons were cursed. The curses were exploding into a rain of shrapnel, vanishing into thin air, turning the carrier to stone, spontaneously bursting into flames, crumbling to dust, and beckoning hostile spirits. The seven heroes (weapon carriers) were the bard, changeling, healer, ninja, paladin, quartermaster, and the wizard.
Weapons had damage ratings in multiples of 5 (clue 5). Damage ratings for five of the weapons were 20, 35, 40, 45, and 60. Two weapons had the same damage rating, which was higher than 40 but not 45 (unique rating, clue 6), 55 (clue 5), or 60+(that would mean the two weapons with the same damage rating would have the highest rating, contradicting clue 5). So, those two weapons could only have a damage rating of 50. Damage ratings for the seven weapons were therefore 20, 35, 40, 45, 50, 50, and 60. “Decimator” and “Sling-Slang” did not have a damage rating of 20 (no ratings of 15 or 25), 50 (clue 5 mentioned 5 different weapons), or 60 (no 55 or 65). So could only be 35, 40, or 45, and one of the two had to be 40.
Bard’s weapon and the one found at the weapon shop did not have a damage rating of 45 (clue 6). Neither could be 35, as the damage rating difference of 20 would require one of them to have a rating of 15 or 55 (not possible). One found at the weapon shop did not have a damage rating of 40 (clue 7), so bard did not carry weapon with damage rating of 20 or 60. Neither had a damage rating of 50 (no 30 or 70). So bard’s weapon had a damage rating of 40 (only choice left), and the one at the weapon shop had a damage rating of either 20 or 60.
“Demon Eye” did not have a damage rating of 20 or 50 (not among those 5 weapons mentioned in clue 5), 40 (bard’s weapon not “Demon Eye,” clue 6), 35 or 45 (clue 6), so could only have a rating of 60. “Demon Eye” curse was not flame (bard’s weapon), rain of shrapnel (clue 6), vanishing into thin air (clue 6), beckoning hostile spirits (“Anathema,” clue 3), or crumbling into dust (clue 4); therefore, curse of “Demon Eye” was turning its carrier into stone, which was not the weapon sold at the weapon shop (clue 7). So the one at the weapon shop then had a damage rating of 20. By clue 2, either “Vivisector” or the weapon found on the castle wall had the lowest damage rating of 20, lowest was not found on castle wall, so it had to be “Vivisector.”
The weapon found in the oubliette was cursed (clue 6), but its curse wasn’t shrapnel, flame, vanishing, stoning carrier (had a rating of 60, not 35), crumbling to dust (changeling’s cursed weapon not found in oubliette, clue 4). Therefore, its curse was beckoning hostile spirits, and the weapon is called “Anathema” (clue 3).
“Euthanasian” did not have damage rating of 20 (“Vivisector”), 35 (“Anathema”), 40 (clue 7), 45 (“Sling-Slang” or “Decimator”), or 60 (“Demon Eye”), so its damage rating was 50.
“Vivisector” was a cursed weapon (weapon shop weapon was cursed, clue 7) and had to be one of the six weapons mentioned in clue 6. It wasn’t “Demon Eye,” the one exploding into shrapnel (“Vivisector” had lowest rating), the one from the oubliette, the one with the damage rating of 45, nor the one carried by the bard. So by elimination, it had to be the one vanishing into thin air.
“Decimator” and “Sling-Slang” have damage ratings of 40 and 45 in some order, and both weapons were cursed (bard’s weapon (40) burst into flame and 45 was listed in clue 6). All six cursed weapons have been identified, so the only safe weapon was “Vertliger.”
Changeling’s weapon, which crumbled to dust, did not have a damage rating of 20 (vanished into air), 35 (hostile spirits), 40 (flame), 50 (Vertliger wasn’t cursed and Euthanasian was not found in the weapon shop, Emerald Forest or the Cavern of Lost Souls), or 60 (stoned its carrier). Therefore, changeling’s weapon had a damage rating of 45, and by clue 7, this weapon could only be the one found in the Cavern of Lost Souls and was not “Decimator.” It could only be “Sling-Slang.” Thus by elimination, “Decimator” had a damage rating of 40 and was the weapon carried by the bard.
Weapon that exploded in clue 6 was not “Demon Eye” (stoned carrier), “Anathema” (spirits), “Vertliger” (not cursed), “Decimator” (flame), “Vivisector” (vanished), or “Sling-Slang” (crumbled). It could only be “Euthanasian.”
“Demon Eye” (rating 60) was not found in the weapon shop (“Vivisector”), oubliette (rating 35), castle wall (rating 50), Cavern of Lost Souls (rating 45), diamond mine or Emerald forest (clue 7). So, “Demon Eye” could only have been found in Ebony Tower. Neither the quartermaster nor the bard carried it (clue 1), nor did the paladin, healer, changeling (clue 4) and wizard (clue 7). So the ninja was the one who carried it.
“Anathema” could only be carried by the wizard (clue 7), does not fit with the other six weapons.
Bard’s “Decimator” (rating 40) was not found in the weapon shop (“Vivisector”), Emerald Forest (clue 5), Cavern of Lost Souls (clue 7), oubliette (clue 6), castle wall (one of the two with damage rating of 50, clue 2), or the Ebony Tower (clue 1). So “Decimator” was found in the diamond mine.
“Vivisector” was not carried by the paladin, quartermaster (clue 2), wizard (“Anathema”), ninja (“Demon Eye”), bard (“Decimator”), or the changeling (“Sling-Slang”). It could only have been carried by the healer.
“Euthanasian” was not carried by the paladin (clue 4), healer (“Vivisector”), bard (“Decimator”), changeling (“Sling-Slang”), ninja (“Demon Eye”) or the wizard (“Anathema”). So the quartermaster was the one who carried it. It was not found in the Emerald Forest (clue 7), diamond mine (“Decimator”), tower (“Demon Eye”), weapon shop (“Vivisector”), oubliette (“Anathema”), or the Cavern of Lost Souls (“Sling-Slang”). “Euthanasian” must have been the one mounted on the wall of the Castle of Zosgul.
By elimination, “Vertliger” was found in the Emerald Forest, and the paladin could only have carried it—the one pure weapon that allowed him to save the day!
“Anathema,” 35, beckoned hostile spirits, oubliette, wizard.
“Decimator,” 40, burst into flames, diamond mine, bard.
“Demon Eye,” 60, turned carrier into stone, Ebony Tower, ninja.
“Euthanasian,” 50, exploded into rain of shrapnel, castle wall, quartermaster.
“Sling-Slang,” 45, crumbled into dust, Cavern of Lost Souls, changeling.
“Vertliger,” 50, no curse, Emerald Forest, paladin.
“Vivisector,” 20, vanished into thin air, weapon shop, healer.
