Veronica Lake title graphic

Veronica Lake never achieved the legendary status enjoyed by other stars of her day, but she remains, without a doubt, one of the most beautiful women to have ever graced the silver screen. Her rapid rise to stardom and subsequent descent into alcoholism and obscurity is a story worthy of a Hollywood melodrama. She appeared in such film classics as "Sullivan's Travels", "This Gun for Hire", and "The Glass Key", but is remembered today more for her famous hair than for her film work. Her trademark "peek-a-boo" bangs started a craze among American women during the the war years, and remains one of the most enduring images to have ever come out of Hollywood. At her peak she was the most popular actress in America, but, sadly, it wasn't to last: within a few short years of reaching the top her career was in decline, and the once shining star was on her way to becoming little more than a footnote in Hollywood history.

This tribute is in remembrance of Veronica Lake, the star; a woman of exceptional beauty and charm; tough, yet with a certain vulnerability; the kind of woman a man would gladly play the sucker for.
