And I'll sing if I want to.....ok am not the one doing the singing although I've got one of these Pavarotti like voices (you have to pay to hear it and for those of you that have heard it already, you still have to pay) but I'm not the one that sang this song I'm on about just now.
The song....performed by a South African troupe (Ipi Tombi) and aptly named the Warrior (now you see the affinity).
What's the song about? Ten thousand men standing on a hill who do battle but then when everyone thinks the battle is over (with them vultures circling overhead and screeching) the warriors just have to come around and show them that the script was not written that way (at least the song was not). Obviously not all ten thousand make it home.....but then again, where is home?
We used to listen to this song every xmas, along with the Boney M christmas collection, Lord Kitchener, and what not but of all the songs, the Ipi Tombi songs made the most impression. Infuses you with this spirit that says you will never die, that says even when your fight in this world is over Akin, others fight for you and for yours until their fight is over and then yet others take it up. But you have to make their fight your fight. Their concern, your concern - the classic be your brother's keeper.
Heed these words, there is more meaning in them than meets the eye. Have to go....baby's calling me.
