LEADING LADIES

Clark Gable was the quintessential sex symbol of the 1930's. He was everything that women wanted and all of what men wanted to be. Standing at 6'1'' and weighing in at 200lbs. he was a heavy weight by all standards. A man's man who radiated a charm that propelled him into a class all of his own. He had a commanding presence both on screen and off.

During his illustrious career Clark worked with the industry's most glamorous women. They were an integral part of the Gable persona. Whether it be rough-housing Norma Shearer or manhandling Greta Garbo, they helped set the stage for one of Cinema's most beloved romantic leading men.

Actresses were clammoring to work with him. Legend has it that Jeanette MacDonald, his co-star in
"San Francisco",wanted to work with him so badly that she refused to be paid!! On the set he was charming, polite and quiet. He, often, preferred to mingle with the gaffers and extras. He, also, had a reputation for romancing his leading ladies, perhaps this is why his love scenes sent temperatures rising.

Here are four of my favorite Leading Ladies who heated up the screen with Clark in some of the Cinema's all time classics. The chemistry he had with these women was the reason he was King of the Box Office.
