Fruits

Fruit has traditionally symbolized immortality, and the pleasures of love. It is easy to see why fruit epitomizes the idea of immortality: its seed symbolizes the beginning of all things, leading to ripe fruit that produces more seed, and so the cyle begins again.

In Western countries, the apple is linked strongly to the ideas first of temptation, and then of sin and deceit (through the biblical story of Adam and Eve), and Greek mythology associated the apple with sexual attraction. The people of China regard the pear as symbol of longevity, and in the West, the pineapple has been an emblem of fertility. Peach is important in many cultures: in Chin and Japan it is seen as a symbol of immortality (the blossom is related to feminine charm) and in the West it is seen as an emblem of salvation.

A dream of fruit can often have sexual connotation, perhaps because the food is sweet and luscious, and especially if we were eating it with great enjoyment. Th appearance of a banana in your dream may have been attacking a puritanical idea, reminding you of an area of life you are denying, or suggesting that you are too easily shocked.

Distinctiveness: On the Tree of Life, each fruit was grown by its own design. Similarly, fruits have colors, shapes, and smells that set them apart from one another.

In oracular dream books, figs symbolize wealth and wisdom, melons indicate travel and adventure, golden applies express financial opportunities, and pears indicate improvements at work. Cherries may porten a loss of love, lemons reveal growing relationships, oranges promise devotion from one adored, and strawberries foretell a rural adventure.

Harvesting fruits equates to cultivating talents, characteristics, or spiritual gifts. Be sure, however, that you wait to pick these fruits when they are fully ripened for the most pleasing personal results.

Forbidden fruits, like the apples in Eden equate to taboos—things, people, situations, or material esires that entice you to stray from a belief.

Vegetables

"From ancient times, vegetables and vegetation itself have not only been seen as symbolic of the life force, nourishment, abundance, fertility and resurrection but also of a dull vegetative waking life. In dreams, vegetables can often symbolize the most basic human emotions."

The symbolic significance of individual vegetables has never been as strong as the association of particular fruits, and you will have to think carefully about all the possible allusions before concluding what a dream of beans, potatoes or mushrooms means to you. For example, the way in which beans or peas climb up toward the sky may be significant, or the fact that root vegetables grow under the earth. In waking life, this may allude eitehr to aspiration or ambition, or to plodding thoroughness.

If this is a play on words, your subsconscious is saying for some reasons you have begun to feel as productive as an inanimate, uprooted vegetable. Get up and become an active participant in life!

Each vegetable in a dream has a different interpretative value. For example, a carrot is a masculine emblem for vision and luck. Additionally, as an omen, carrots symbolize forthcoming wealth, health, and happy marriages. Dreaming of eating celery is an omen of love and affection. Cauliflower growing in a garden foretells increased business prospects, corn might depict a "corny" personality or the promise of improved finances, and beans carry a magical overtone thanks to the story of "Jack and the Beanstalk."

Root vegetables denote grounding, a connection to your family, and the staples of both spiritual and mundane life.

Jungian: Because vegetables get nourished by all the elements, they represent the depths of the subconscious, the deepest roots, and the fundamental self.

Societal, cultural, or religious limitations. Many vegetables hav been shunned becaue of one of these contexts, such as tomatoes being thought poisonous, or potatoes not being eaten by Puritans because they are not in the Bible.

Eating vegetables in a dream is a portent of odd luck and coincidence on the horizon.

Difficulty
