Black ring ropes are used for the first time in a continued effort to give HeAT its own identity. Looks like the WWF's New Year's resolution was to improve this show, as there are more big names, storylines, and excellent matches than I've seen on HeAT in six months. The crowd's hot too; I'm impressed... Edge/Christian vs. Val Venis/D'Lo Brown (excellent match). Recap of Mankind's firing and interview with J.R. D'Lo gets Triple H and Stephanie to give him a European title shot. Grandmaster Sexay (w/ Scotty Too Hotty) vs. Headbanger Mosh (w/ Headbanger Thrasher) (surprisingly good match). New Age Outlaws rant from the stage. Backstage, the Godfather leaves one of his hos in the locker room when she is too afraid of Viscera to go ringside. The Godfather (w/ hos) vs. Viscera; Gangrel interferes. Backstage bloodbath. Year in review clips (very well-done highlight package). WWF European championship: Val Venis (C) vs. D'Lo Brown (excellent match).
"Happy New Year, everybody, and welcome to Sunday Night HeAT! As we kick off the year 2000 in the World Wrestling Federation! Michael Cole, Kevin Kelly at ringside and Kevin, as we go the year 2000 has as much excitement as 1999 did!"
"Well, later on, we'll take a look back at the highlights of what was a great 1999! But the year 2000's gonna start off strong, here on Sunday Night HeAT!"

(Backstage, D'Lo comes storming into a hallway where Triple H and Stephanie are giggling with their heads close)
D'LO: "Hey! Hey, you two! I've been looking all around this damn arena for you two! This Val Venis, he is totally out of control; he's out there trying to one-up me, he's trying to outshow me--"
STEPHANIE (heavy on annoyance and sass): "You know what, D'Lo, you need to lower your voice! Who do you think you're talking to?"
D'LO: "You're right. I'm sorry. I'm sorry; this whole--"
STEPHANIE: "You BETTER be sorry."
D'LO: "I'm sorry; this whole Val Venis-- this is getting in my head. The guy's out there just stealing my stuff, he's trying to one-up me, he's trying to steal my wins... all I'm asking is for one thing. I just need Val in the ring with the European title, and I will take care of the rest. I just need the match. All I'm asking for is the match."
TRIPLE H: "See, D'Lo... that's all you have to do with us. You just have to ask. We're fair! We treat everybody fairly. You just have to ask. You want a match with Val for the European title, you got it."
D'LO: "Thank you. That's all I needed; thank you very much. I appreciate it--"
TRIPLE H: "Oh, D'Lo, but remember one thing-- we've done you a favor now; you owe us."
(D'Lo nods once, slowly, before leaving)
STEPHANIE (calling after him): "It's only fair!"
(Triple H turns back to Stephanie and leans close to her ear)
TRIPLE H (whispering): "Where were we?"
"Well, in Triple H's and Stephanie's world, ask and you shall receieve, as long as you reciprocate the favor! D'Lo Brown's getting a European title shot tonight against Val Venis!"
"I hope D'Lo knows what he's in for. He certainly has made a deal with the devil."

"Triple H was looking to eliminate the Great One, but when all was said and done, it didn't happen. Now I've got to wonder, Michael, since Kane did NOT get the job done... will there be any heat on Kane and Tori?"

Second referee Chad Patten who came into the ring claims that Jericho won, and I agree with Chad Patten!"
"Well, again, that IS your opinion. I was expecting Chyna to get her hand raised. I understand, Michael, that there WILL be a decision rendered tomorrow night, live on RAW is WAR. We'll find out who the Intercontinental champion is!"
"I'll tell you why I say it's Jericho; two reasons. Number one, unless there's conclusive evidence I don't believe the champion can lose the title, and number two, Chad Patten, in my opinion, had the better viewpoint because referee Jimmy Korderas had been knocked down."
"Yes, but Jim Korderas WAS the official referee. He was the one assigned to the match, and I think his decision should be final."

NO, that doesn't work for us! So at the Royal Rumble, we will put the World Wrestling Federation Tag Team titles on the line, and SHOW you why the New Age Outlaws are the greatest tag team to ever set FOOT in the World Wrestling Federation!" (crowd pop)
