Timeline: October 1999

10-2-99 (PPV: Rebellion, UK)
Chris Jericho defeated the Road Dogg by pinfall. Road Dogg got a huge pop upon his entrance, and after his mic work proceeded to jump Jericho on the ramp. After brawling in the crowd briefly, they hauled it back into the ring. Jericho delivered a springboard dropkick that knocked RD out of the ring, where he was attacked by Curtis Hughes. Jericho later got a nice springboard bulldog, which Road Dogg countered moments later with a top-rope superplex. RD fought out of the Walls of Jericho (Liontamer) submission hold and got in a little shake, rattle, and roll before accidentally hitting the referee. Hughes took advantage of that to nail RD with a chair. Road Dogg barely kicked out of a pinfall shortly thereafter. He knocked Hughes off the apron but was nailed with a Jericho low-blow that finished the match. Reports are that this was a very good match and that the crowd was into it.

10-3-99 (HeAT)
Road Dogg isn't on, but the New Age Outlaws are featured in the Hot Spot for the evening. Footage is shown of them first forming the NAO, their first win of the tag team belts, some of the glory days, the breakup earlier this year, and finally of their reunion. Still no word as to who decided it would be a good idea for them to get back together.

10-4-99 (RAW)
The Outlaws head to ringside to participate in a four-team elimination match against the Hollies, the Acolytes, and the team of X-Pac and Kane. Usual ring schtick follows, and Road Dogg gets the crowd to finish it up for him again. As soon as the last team enters, pandemonium breaks out. The Outlaws attack the Hollies immediately, and Bradshaw helps. The ref sends Road Dogg out of the ring, and he obliges. The whole match is Hardcore vs. BABG. They soon are brawling outside of the ring and when Crash starts helping out Hardcore, Road Dogg rushes up and attacks Crash. As this is taking place, the referee counts both teams out and a bevy of refs arrive to sort things out. As the cameras begin to cover the action in the ring from the two remaining teams, at one point you can see the Road Dogg and Billy Gunn at the foot of the ramp. Road Dogg appears upset, but they walk out together.

10-6-99 (House Show: Trenton, NJ)
The New Age Outlaws defeat Edge and Christian. According to those in attendance, this was a very good and fast-paced match. The crowd was pumped throughout. The NAO delivered their traditional in-ring schtick and faced off against their challengers. At one point, after the Road Dogg delivered the juke 'n jive followed by the shake, rattle, and roll, he turned around and got nailed with a very nasty spear. Edge was only able to get a two-count, and Badd Ass tagged in. He beat the Suicide Blondes down something awful; Christian tried to reverse momentum with a reverse DDT, but it wasn't enough and Christian went down to the Fame-Asser.

10-7-99 (SmackDown!: Uniondale, Long Island, NY)
Hardcore Holly defeats the Road Dogg. Road Dogg hits the ring accompanied by Billy Gunn (usual schtick follows), and Hardcore shows up with Crash moments later. Road Dogg gets the early advantage, but Holly reverses the momentum and starts pounding on Road Dogg with some help from Crash. Eventually Hardcore throws Road Dogg over the top rope, where the ref becomes distracted and Crash takes advantage again. Road Dogg continues getting his ass kicked. Snapmare, scoopslam, yadda yadda, c'mon Road Dogg! Holly goes to the top rope, but RD is ready for him and lets Holly fly into his boot. Briefly he looks like he wants to make a tag, which obviously won't work, but then pulls himself up and does some juke 'n jive, followed by the shake, rattle and roll and the wiggle knee drop. RD tries for a pumphandle but Crash leaps into the ring; Badd Ass grabs him and drags him out. Meanwhile, Hardcore hits a suplex and gets a three-count. The Hollies start talking about how great they are; the NAO grabs them, throws them into the ring, and beat them up briefly. After that, Road Dogg puts his arms around Billy Gunn and I can't tell if he was tired or what-- anyway, Billy just stands there as the ref hands them their belts back and they trash on the Hollies a little.

10-10-99 (House Show: Miami, FL)
Road Dogg beat Chris Jericho in a Miami streetfight. Great match according to the folks there; brawled into the crowd early. Here's the scoop from a fan in attendance: "Once back in the ring, Jericho took control of Road Dogg. He went under the ring and grabbed a garbage can, then headed to the top rope. Y2J attempted to smash the trash can into Road Dogg's face, but Road Dogg countered with a dropkick sending the can right into Jericho's skull. Road Dogg then grabbed the trashcan and used it on Jericho's head again for the pin. Looked like a pretty mean bump as the can didn't even bend and Jericho took it straight on."

10-10-99 (Sunday Night HeAT)
Road Dogg wasn't on.

10-11-99 (RAW is WAR: Atlanta, Georgia)
The Road Dogg headed ringside with Badd Ass. Road Dogg did his usual shtick but sent out a get-well message to Droz beforehand. The Hollies then came tripping down. Crash dives in and he immediately gets beaten up by BABG, as Road Dogg watches from ringside. Harcore interrupts a Gunn cover only moments in, and Road Dogg responds by socking him. From bell to bell, this match is fifty seconds. Cripes! Of course, it's not over. As BABG and RD celebrate in-ring, Hardcore leaps in with the scale and strikes BABG with it, knocking him flat. He then hits the Dogg with it. Crash pulls Road Dogg up and Irish whips him, and on the rebound Crash and Hardcore use the scale to clothesline RD. That brought some sympathy hoots from the crowd. The Hollies vacate to solid boos.

10-14-99 (SmackDown!: Birmingham, Alabama)
We begin again with the New Age Outlaws, who hit the ring and do their traditional schtick. Triple H, disfigured from a rattlesnake bite, comes out and speaks with them. Both look very concerned, and don't argue when Triple H asks them to leave the ring. Later in the evening, the Road Dogg is shown backstage in a locker room, frowning as BABG does push-ups... while standing on his head. Road Dogg crouches down and is talking to him, but it's impossible to tell what's being said. Even later than that, the NAO come down to put their tag titles on the line against the Rock & Sock Connection. Very good match, and the crowd is extremely hot for it. Rock gets the early advantage and RD breaks up a possible Rock Bottom. Soon all four men are slugging it out, but the refs break it up. RD then fights Mankind; Mankind gets the momentum and begins mimicking Road Dogg's signature moves. This prompts Lawler to wonder aloud if Mankind can ever do anything original. RD goes for a pumphandle slam when Rock flattens him. The Dogg takes a couple of stiff hits from the Rock but finally tags out. The wild brawl continues with good moves, tags, and fighting at ringside. Eventually Mankind gets the Mandible Claw on Road Dogg, and soon after Mankind pins BABG thanks to interference from the Hollies.

10-17-99 (HeAT: Cleveland, Ohio)
Road Dogg isn't on.

10-17-99 (PPV No Mercy: Cleveland, Ohio)
The New Age Outlaws vs. the Holly cousins. After tradition schtick, the Outlaws are in control of the match. Road Dogg, however, is soon isolated and gets beaten on by both of the cousins. Moves included a wicked suplex and a dropkick, both of which the Road Dogg ate. I'll get more detailed on this match later, but suffice it to say the Dogg was getting beaten down before finally Gunn was tagged in. As he was cleaning house, the Road Dogg accidentally distracted the ref which allowed Holly to get a chair in. Gunn took it away and hit a Fame-ass-er on it, which gave the Hollies the match by DQ.

10-18-99 (RAW is WAR: Ohio State University)
The New Age Outlaws vs. the Acolytes. Faarooq and Billy Gunn started off the action. Early in the match, Faarooq whipped Billy into the ropes. A metallic snap was audible on television, and the top rope broke! Billy was dropped right on his ass. The top rope now had no tension whatsoever and was hanging limply. Gunn got a dropkick but Bradshaw tagged in, hit a fallaway slam, and threw Billy out of the ring. As the ref stopped Road Dogg from helping Billy, Faarooq got a few shots in. Gunn (busted wide open) ended up throwing Faarooq into a turnbuckle, and when Faarooq recoiled the whole turnbuckle came with him. Half the top rope was down in the ring! Faarooq turned the turnbuckle into a weapon. Finally Road Dogg and Bradshaw got tagged in. Howard Finkel (whom the Acolytes won earlier in a poker game) throws a chair into the ring, but Gunn uses it on Bradshaw behind the refs back and the Outlaws win. Afterwards, the Acolytes took Finkel back and gave him an atomic wedgie. Later in the evening, the Outlaws were shown in the back receiving medical attention and watching the Holly/Rock & Sock match.

10-21-99 (SmackDown!: Louisville, Kentucky)
Not much action from the boys tonight. After Hardcore and Crash Holly have successfully defended their WWF Tag Team belts against the Hardy Boyz, BABG and Road Dogg come racing out, attack the Hollies, and chase them from the ring. Shortly thereafter, Road Dogg is seen in the back talking to Stone Cold Steve Austin, and they commiserate on their dislike for the Rock. Some have called the Road Dogg's comments racist, but many also disagree. Way to cause some controversy, Road Dogg! I would also like to take this opportunity to point out that if one decides to call the Road Dogg racist as a result of this, one will also have to call Steve Austin racist since he emphatically agreed with what the D-O-double-G had to say. But, I don't think the comment was intended to be racist so who cares?

10-24-99 (Sunday Night HeAT: Louisville, Kentucky)
Road Dogg isn't on.

10-25-99 (RAW is WAR: Providence, Rhode Island)
The New Age Outlaws take on Stone Cold Steve Austin and the Rock. The show begins with the Outlaws, Triple H, and Vince backstage booking this main event. Later in the show Triple H bumps into the Outlaws backstage and eggs them on a little bit. The main event match is long and well-paced, with both Outlaws actively tagging. X-Pac and Triple H eventually run in and the show ends with the Rock and Austin beaten down in the ring, and Triple H, X-Pac and the Outlaws sporting D-Generation X jerseys. After RAW went off the air, D-X taunted the crowd to such an extent that the audience began throwing bottles into the ring. Billy Gunn (and Triple H and Road Dogg to a lesser extent) got involved in a fight with the crowd at ringside. Finally, they made it up to the stage and Vince McMahon dragged them backstage in what was most likely a scripted ending to firmly establish D-X as heels.

10-28-99 (SmackDown!: Springfield, Massachusetts)
D-Generation X comes out early with a challenge for the Rock and Stone Cold Steve Austin. They arrogantly proclaim in the ring that they are taking over the WWF. Later in the evening, the Road Dogg attacks the Rock as he arrives at the arena. With the help of D-X, Road Dogg locks the Rock into a car trunk and speeds off with him. The Road Dogg later returns and does not reveal what he did with the Rock. D-X lays in wait for Stone Cold Steve Austin, but Austin has his own plans in mind. He catches the Road Dogg backstage in a bear trap and taunts the D-O-double-G by pouring beer over the wound. Billy Gunn is later trapped in a snare, and X-Pac has a ceiling fall on his head. At the end of the show, D-X limps to the ring to confront Austin but all four members end up trapped under a huge net that fell from the ceiling! Kane (who was betrayed by X-Pac earlier in the evening) and the Rock both come to ringside to help Austin pummel the degenerates.

10-31-99 (Sunday Night HeAT: Springfield, Massachusetts)
Road Dogg isn't on.
