***Part 8 ***

***The martial arts studio: Sunday 8:00 p.m.***

"David is their anything that you haven't told me about the business of being a slayer?" Catherine asked.

"No, none at all." David answered uncomfortably.

"Have you found out anything about Buffy Summers?" Catherine inquired.

"I'm sorry but no." was David's equally uncomfortable response.

"David, I'm going to leave now for my patrol but I have to tell you something." Catherine stated as she walked out. You are a terrible liar and I already know several of the things that you aren't telling me. I'm going to come in tomorrow to see if you can explain why you lied to me because I don't know if I can trust you."

David started to go after her but she quickly disappeared to leave him to his thoughts.

***12:30 a.m. a back street in Sunnydale***

AIEEEE!

A scream erupted from the alley right down the street as Catherine broke into a sprint to get there before it was too late. As she turned the corner she saw Jessica, the girl who had invited her to the bronze, and her boyfriend surrounded by six vampires.

Catherine threw the stake attempting again to stake one of the vampires without engaging it in a prolonged fight. This time the stake hit exactly and the vampire burst into dust. This caused all the vampires to immediately turn to face the potential threat.

"Well are you going to attack me or are you just going to conveniently stand there and let me toss stakes at you from here?" Catherine taunted. She was hoping to get the remaining 5 vampires to attack her instead of going after Jessica and her boyfriend.

Well it worked as 3 of the five vampires ran directly at her. The other two actually seemed to run away.

The fight was fast paced but longer than it should have been sense she had to keep an eye out for the two vampires that ran off. Eventually though, she had staked two of the vampires and was left with only one remaining. The vampire had charged her and avoided her stake that she had thrust at the on rushing vampire. He wasn't prepared however for Cat to dodge after he had avoided her stake and flip him over at the same time. A quickly produced stake had ended the fight shortly afterward.

Jessica had a look on her face that made Cat think she was about to ask her a bunch of questions about what had just happened..

***The warehouse: 12:30 a.m.***

Buffy Summers was sitting on a couch in front of a television set watching Catherine in her fight that night. Willow moved into a folding chair beside her.

"Now see Wills," Buffy began in a good mood despite the bad results of the fight for her underlings, "this is a challenge."

"You see if I had killed her right away I would have had to be bored again and if there is one thing I want to avoid in this eternal un-life it's boredom. I mean if you have a near eternity to almost live why waste any of it being bored." Buffy declared.

"I don't know Buffy," Willow started, "Angelous might be a tad bit upset. I mean he is planning it so that a demon is going to give us the power to make Earth our own personal playground. Considering that I don't think that he's going to be happy with your playing with the slayer. Also, not that I am disagreeing or anything but I also think it might be too much risk."

This caused Buffy to pause for a moment as she thought about that briefly. "True, but don't worry Will dear. I mean I can probably convince him to give me some fun time if she's dead before my darling's pet project starts so don't worry about that. Besides," She started as she flashed a brilliant vampiric smile, "what's life without some risks."
