Though how he started his career is known only to him, and he won't tell… It is known to some that he was a smuggler for the alliance in its middle stages, before Hoth. After spending some time in combat he became a lieutenant in alliance Special Forces, and then became commander of a base that he built for the alliance, by himself, on Laurelia. Laurelia was still held by a very powerful warlord and this task was not easy, or without problems. After leading the ground forces to takeover the planet he decided to move on from base commander. He was more than competent at both commanding and smuggling and soon became wealthy, very wealthy. He used most of his money to buy modifications for his ship and a suit of armor, along with training. He spent the better part of six years of his life at the Laurelia Knighthood University where he was given the honor to be one of the first Knights to be officially sanctioned by the New Republic. He went off on his own, asking little from the government, giving them more in return.
If he is seen he is to be given all respect, as he will do so for you. Treat him like dirt he will treat you as a friend. Attack him and he will send you to jail, impound your equipment, and possibly even use what was yours to officially build his base. He is more dangerous than Boba Fett is to his enemies but a better friend than a wookiee that owes a life debt to you if you're on his side. You can always count on him in a pinch, though he may ask you to do a supply run for him to where his base is being built. If he does this it means he has the utmost confidence in you, or he will just erase your memory and your ships nav-computer so you don't know where he is.
Quotes: "Okay, we can do this the hard way or… well there's just the hard
way. BANG!"
"Oh you need a lift and
repairs on your ship, hold on I'll get the droid to fix it, no charge."
"An imperial governor is
brainwashing and terrorizing your people? Just give me a map of the area
and two weeks."
Personality: Relatively easy going, he will help out a friend and be courteous to others. In a bar fight he will either help the police or, if they aren't there, try to pacify the whole group by himself. He is extremely nice to others and treats everyone with respect, as he was taught.
Objectives: He wishes to stop slavery, End tyranny and defeat evil. For now, though, he'll settle for taking money from those who obtain it in illegal, immoral, or evil ways. Maintaining a fleet is expensive you now.
Connection With Other Characters: He could be teaching one character or hunting another, he can always be thrown into a police investigation or rebel battle plan.
Backround: Born and raised on Fondor, Don Zondok spent much of his time as a child
working with equipment and vehicles that his parents bought for him. Sometimes
he would even repair and refit broken down machinery that someone threw
onto the street. When he was old enough he went to work in the shipyards,
not because he needed money but because it was fun and he was good at it.
After some time all that money, a beneficial yet over-looked product of
his job built up.
When he had enough money saved
up he left his job in the shipyards for a job as part of a ship's mechanical
and technical crew on a large passenger liner. From there he took on a
job as mechanic on a small system patrol craft in the inter-planetary patrol
onit of Fondor. His ship searched for and captured many smugglers while
he was there. He didn't think of the rebellion, it was new and small and
far away. His job was here, now and was important.
One day a captured "smuggler"
claimed he was not a smuggler, Zondok was ordered to help tear apart the
ship to search for contraband. When he was alone in a maintenance hatch
he found some weapons and information on the empire. The were going to
use the information to incite a riot. Zondok stole a weapon, a Heavy Blaster
Pistol, along with a spare power pack and a datapad copy of the information.
He then left that area and reported what he found, he was then ordered
to his bunk while they finished with the ship.
After some time he heard an
explosion and was called back to his post. He hid the stuff he stole
and ran to the engine room to find out what went wrong. While they were
pulling away, before scuttling the ship, some one (or thing) fired on the
System Patrol Craft. The engines were damage, the fire was out now, but
it was open to vacuum. Their was only one vacuum suit and to fix
it the person had to go outside and fix it from there. Don Zondok
took the job and fixed it quickly, but right when he finished the door,
already weakened, blew in to the engine area. The hole was patched but
the engine room was still a vacuum! No one was injured and they moved Zondok
up to the position of head mechanic for this system's group of SPCs. He
was in charge of maintenance for a whole dozen of the Patrol Crafts, and
he was only seventeen.
During this he realized he was
missing something, excitement. One day a captured YT-1300 was left in the
SPC hangar, he spent time when every one was asleep working on this ship,
learning how to fly it and fix it. He was in the engine compartment when
the smuggler's who owned it escaped from the prison cells in the base.
He ran to his bunk, realizing that this was his last chance for freedom,
he grabbed his stuff (especially the blaster and datapad) and ran to the
hangar. No one was there yet so he ran on the ship and hid in one of the
bunks.
When the pilot finally took
off, then jumped to hyperspace he came to the back and found Don Zondok
asleep with datapad in hand and a gun in his holster. The pilot woke him
up and asked why he was here. Zondok answered that he needed excitement,
he would help the smuggler if he allowed him to stay on his crew. The smuggler
agreed after finding out what Don's job was and eventually made Don into
his partner.
When Don Zondok finally got
an offer for his own ship he juped at it, even though it meant working
for a crime lord. From there he started taking on second jobs along with
the crimelords shipments. At one point his ship was nearly destroyed by
a meteorite, the atmosphere vented in half of his ship. He was able to
fix it in a week but his cargo was right where the meteorite hit...
He now owed the crime lord over twenty thousand credits for the cargo being
destroyed.
When he was on a run for the
alliance he was asked to help on an upcoming mission. Because of his expertise
with freighters and his skills at commanding small and large groups he
was offered command of a group of soldiers. He took the job, and a position
as Leuitenant in Alliance Spec Forces. He had to fly an assault shuttle
full of troops to a Mark Two Imperial Star Destroyer and enter its hangar.
He had to lead the troops to the bridge and take control of the ship. This
he did with few problems, the ship was then used to ram one of the largest
ships ever, a SHIP CLASS Class Heavy Cruiser.
From there he had his run of
the starship maintenance and upgrade area of the nearest Alliance base.
He had some techs help him upgrade the engines and weapons on his ship
then went back to the home he had built. Unfortunately, that is also where
the crime lord was. With some help from the Alliance he stole the crimelords'
money and equipment and destroyed the crimelords' base while he was in
it. Don Zondok gave most of the money to the Alliance but kept a few hundred
thousand.
With his own money he built
the Alliance an hidden base on that planet, then the Emo\pire came and
took over the planet. Him and his base survived unharmed and became the
major resistance cell on that planet. When it was time to act he led the
ground forces to take the planet back while the Alliance Navy took care
of the ships high above.
After some time of continuing
on as usual with smuggling for the Alliance and going on SpecForce missions
he received an all-important call. He was invited to the new training base
that the Alliance and a seperate company had built. After more than
eight years of training Don Zondok became the first full graduate, the
first Knight of the New Republic (during this time the Alliance became
the New Republic mind you). Not a jedi knight, but close, knights became
traveling law enforcement officers and military leaders to sit in for the
Jedi until their return, and then supplement them.
He now is a SpecForce Captain,
though he is in direct control of a squad of 6 troopers. They are all specialists
from different areas of expertise. They function as his team, him and the
team are more indepentant from the rest of the military and usually see
action raiding imperial garrisons, etc. They are like the Rogue Squadron
of SpecForces, though they might not be the best there is. The group is
very democratic and many times Cpt. Zondok goes his seperate way from the
group for other missions.
Currently he is also the Captain
of his own ship, a unigue light freighter. It has a droid brain, actually
it IS a droid and his squad are also his gunners. The ship is usually with
his squad when they are seperated, though it can be used in combat alone.
He is also Commander of a small but growing fleet including: an escort
carrier, a squadron of X-wings, a squadron of Skipray BlastBoats, a Gamma
Class Assualt Shuttle, his personal ship, many "borrowed" imperial
vehicles for ground ops and one other ship. This other ship was designed
and engineered by Zondok himself.
It is a ground based garrison
with its own Ion Drives, Repulsorlifts, Sheilds and hull. It can land on
planets to off-load vehicles and troops, or to act as a temporary garrison,
and it can also fly in combat. Its only weak point is that to land on a
planet it can't have any weapons on the bottom. It has only 4 turbolasers,
a heavy turbolaser, 4 small, 2 medium and one large ion cannon. Its main
edge is its low crew rating, 1200 with a skeleton rating of 300, and its
speed. It is faster in space than many fighters and all other capital ships;
its manueverability is near that of a capital class X-wing.
