"It's a tale that parents never tire of telling their children ..."
These words are immediately recognized by FoLCs as HG Wells' explanation to Lois in 'Tempus Fugitive' of how she was blinded by love in not recognizing Clark's dual persona. It's the love of these characters, this tale of which we never seem to tire, that keeps us coming back again and again. It's also what drives a very busy group of FoLCs to continue the legacy started by Deborah Joy Levine just 6 years ago.
Last year, Season 5 (S5) picked up the story from the last episode of Lois and Clark. This year, Season 6 (S6), coordinated by Kathy Brown and Pam Jernigan, seeks to continue the saga.
During the 22 fanfic episodes of S5 -- which won last year's Fanfic Kerth Award as "Best Series Continuation" -- Lois and Clark battled a host of new villains, as well as their old nemeses Tempus and Mindy Church. And if that weren't enough, they were dismayed by the reappearance of Lex Luthor, who claimed to have been the victim of an evil clone. Lois and Clark's personal life stayed on the front burner as well, as they struggled with their quest to conceive their own child, and ultimately rejoiced as Lois learned she was pregnant. S5's season finale, "It's Time", written by Pam Jernigan, gave us what we'd been waiting for all season -- the birth of Lois and Clark's daughter.
Thank you for joining us to see what happened in Season 6!
A lot of talented, dedicated people worked hard on Seasons 5 and 6, and we're all very gratified that so many fans have enjoyed our efforts. We gave serious thought to another season, but ultimately decided against it. We had a number of very talented authors express interest in another season, and Kathy and I were tempted to continue. What made S5/S6 so special, however, was the elaborate continuity and extended storylines, and that sort of thing is very difficult to coordinate. Kathy shouldered most of that burden this year, and she's had enough. We didn't find anyone both willing and able to take over, so rather than see the quality of the series go downhill, we're going to end on a high note -- see "Stronger Than Me Alone", our series finale.
Of course, anyone who wants to can still pick up on S5/S6 continuity, if they choose, to write either a single story or a whole season. We'll even offer advice if it's wanted. But it would be a separate project, not an official continuation.
Thank you, everyone, for reading our seasons and encouraging us to continue. We appreciate every note we've gotten. And keep in mind that there are tons of excellent fanfic stories outside of S5/S6, at the L&C Fanfic Archive, with more being released all the time, so you'll still be able to get your L&C fix.
Sincerely,
Kathy Brown, Pam Jernigan,
and the whole S6 team
