And now, yet another post-FMN revenge fantasy fanfic... <eg>

THE LOIS WAVE

by Pam Jernigan (jernigan@bellsouth.net)

"Oh Lois, I'm so glad we got that whole amnesia thing straightened out..." Clark hugged her tightly to him, humbly grateful that he was once again able to hold her. It had been far too long.

"Me, too, Clark," she mumbled into his shoulder. "I feel so awful for you, and I can't believe I put you through that..."

"You didn't," he reassured her, stroking her back and her hair. "But it's all behind us now, right?"

She pulled far enough away from him to see his face, wiping a last remaining tear from her eye. "Almost. There's one more thing I need to do."

A few minutes later, Superman flew Lois into the sanitarium grounds. She'd insisted on that - it was quicker than driving there with Clark, and if he was in the suit, he couldn't act the part of the outraged fiance (which he didn't usually do too well anyway). Besides, she wanted to deal with Dr. Deter all by herself.

Max came out of the sanitarium when he saw her approaching. "Lois! There you are! When Superman flew off with you, I was worried..." He cast a reproving glance at Clark, who simply folded his arms and glowered back.

"Oh, I'm fine," Lois assured him, in a dangerously light tone. He didn't know her well enough to worry. "My memory's come back, in fact." She started stalking towards him, pointing a finger at his chest. He looked uneasy. "I now remember that I'm engaged to Clark - and that you damn well knew it when you started hitting on me." Her voice dropped to a deadly hiss. "You took advantage of my vulnerability, and I do *not* take well to that."

Dr. Deter began backing away. "Lois, I only did what I did because I loved you!"

She followed him, poking her finger into his chest. (Clark, standing forgotten in the background, had to hide a smile. He was starting to really enjoy this.) "What you did had nothing to do with love, buster."

"What can I do?" Max cried, distraught, backed up against the sanitarium wall. "I'll do anything! What do you want?"

She considered the question, and started to smile. "I want to live just long enough to see your head up on a spike, as a warning to the next 10 generations that doctors should *never* take advantage of their patients. I want to look up into your lifeless eyes and wave, just like this." She held out her hand, palm forward, and wiggled all four fingers (^^^^). "Can you and your associate, the "Hangman", arrange that for me, Dr. Deter?"

He was still gaping in shock as she walked back over to Superman. As Clark flew her off, she looked back, smiled nastily, and waved. ^^^^

Once they were safely in the air, Lois started giggling. "Oh, that felt so good..."

After a moment, Clark began to laugh as well. "I don't think I've ever scared anyone as badly as you did him. Where did that come from, anyway? Honestly, Lois, his head on a *spike*?"

She looked a little embarrassed, but giggled again. "Oh that... I got it from a TV show I saw once..."

The End

Fans of Babylon 5 will probably have recognized that I "adapted" Vir's speech to Morden from a second season episode (In the Shadow of Z'ha'dum). Thanks to JMS for being such a fabulous writer, and the one TV producer worthy of the fans' respect... unlike one certain other who shall remain nameless.

(But his initials are Robert Singer <vbeg>)
