my ode to t.o.

it's a city of lights; it's a city of dreams
it's a city i wish i knew was as good as it seems
those canadian boarders are calling me again
saying, 'it's been awhile, tell me where have you been?
'you know you liked it last time, so when are ya coming back?'
and i tell it i'm coming soon, and how ya like that?
just got to pack my things and tell my friends goodbye
i'm going to a better place; i hope that's not a lie

it's the city that gave us the kids in the hall
it's a city of color and beauty in the fall
and though it's true it gets very cold
the city is still to me as good as gold
because it's not the weather that i'm after
no, i'm moving to find good times and good laughter
and maybe i like it so much just 'cause it ain't here
but i guess i'll find out soon, and i'll tell ya next year

it's a city built on the shore of the lake of ontario
it's the city that i'm not sure i'll like so much when i go
but it's the city i fell in love with the first time i went there
and if i didn't give it a chance, it just wouldn't be fair

there's always excitement in the air and drummers on the streets
the people are so nice that you just happen to meet
the barenaked ladies came from this very city
and if you don't like them, well then, that's a pity
how could you not love a city that brought you dave foley?
he's just so witty and charming, he's damn near holy
yes, it would seem it's got everything you could want
so it's about time i begin my way on this jaunt
