James Brown
20 All-Time Greatest Hits
James Brown is the "Godfather of Soul," but the first time I saw him as a
kid, I was terrified by him. It wasn't his primal dancing or spastic
hollering, it was his oily skin. I never seen anybody look so waxy in my
life. He practically glistened 24 hours a day, even if there's no light
source. I have a theory for this. You see, James Brown used to be really
fat, as evident by the documentary When We Were Kings. He lost a
lot of weight in prison, and the fat probably liquified and coagulated
back on the surface of his skin. It might look hideous, but it provides UV
protection and the sweet smell of country bacon. I think James Brown
deserves whatever excesses he want, because there are not many people who
produced as great music as him. I know I should get the box set Star
Time, but economically, this is the best collection.
