John Coltrane
My Favorite Things
This is one of Coltrane's greatest. The most recognizable piece from this
album is, of course, the title track, which is a version of the song from
The Sound of Music. I think "Do-Ra-Me" was very influential on
Coltrane's atonal experimentation. They both use scales, and they both
uses the scales to go off on tangents. I bet Coltrane and Julie Andrews
have a lot in common.
