The Beatles
Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band
This is considered the greatest pop/rock album of all time. I'm not going
to disagree because, I swear this is true, there are people watching to
make sure this remains the greatest album of all time. I had a friend who
called this album "a pretentious piece of Englisk wanker crap." I had to
feed his dog from that day forth. Seriously, it's a damn good record that
is breathless in the musical styles dabbled in, and it's well produced.
But it's not the strongest album in terms of songs. Wait, I just knocked
Sgt. Peppers. I'm sorry, please leave me and my house plants alone,
and I'll continue to harass the Bee Gees. I mention the Bee Gees because
the movie version of this album is the most godawful thing I've ever seen
in my life. I don't think anybody who appeared in that movie has a career
anymore, and Peter Frampton deserved everything he got. How can the
greatest album of all time inspire one of the worst movies in film
history? I'm sure this is a piece of ammunition for the secret guerrillas
out there working to undermine this album and the Sandinistas. Viva la
revolucion!
