Anita and David met through a mutual friend, Alan Green. Alan also co-wrote Davy's first edition of his book, They Made a Monkee Out of Me. The first thing that attracted him to Anita was an incident that happened soon after they met. During a playful scuffle Anita doused Davy in flour. This action reminded Davy of something that his mother once did. When David's father was in the army he used to sneak home instead of running the paces. So being playful, David's mother threw flour on his father as he was running in. Harry *David's father* had to go back to base where they asked him what happened. Harry replied 'flour ambush sir.'

David and Anita married in 1982. Alan Green wrote a poem specifically for their wedding entitled The Day the Artful Dodger Didn't Dodge 'Er. You can read it on the Poems page.

With Anita he had two more girls-Jessica and Annabel.

Caddy Shack Story:
Davy and Anita were invited to the premiere of the movie, Caddy Shack. Yet David became so bored, that when the movie was over and they called stars up front to talk, he mooned the audience! He heard his name, walked up, and just started to shed...he writes laughingly almost how embarassed Anita was.

Anita was his manager for the 1986 Monkees Tour. She kept everything in line. Davy fondly remembers that she was the one who bought him his first appointment book so he could keep organized. He claims he's disorganized! Not Davy!

In 1998 Davy's divorce from Anita was finalized. They had been married 16 years but Davy's heavy schedule kept Anita and Davy apart alot. Yet for the last two years before the divorce was up, Davy was also seeing Gillian Holt, who was around 28 at the time.
