Not Ashamed of the Gospel

"For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes…" - Romans 1:16

Faith is choosing boldly and unswervingly to believe what God has said, beginning with the fact that the gospel of Christ is the "power of God to salvation for everyone who believes." We must never allow ourselves to be ashamed to proclaim that wonderful truth, regardless of the reaction (or lack thereof) of those who hear us. Among the keys to faithful living is the truth of our conversion – resulting from the hearing and believing of the gospel of Christ – and we must be faithful to share that truth with others.

Twentieth-century faith must learn again to believe totally the testimony of Scripture, as those of the early church did. As we believe the testimony of Scripture and boldly proclaim the gospel, we release the creative power of God's Word because we are choosing to believe it, even in the face of challenging circumstances ((give me a challenge; there hasn't been anything that I haven't encountered yet!)). Even though there will be times when we are tempted by unbelief, we can do what He promises.

Faith frees us to live as never before for the good of others. Faith also calls us to accountability to tell others about the saving grace of Christ and to live in a manner that will strengthen others who may be weak in their faith. As those who have experienced the truth of God's Word, we must commit our lives to proclaim the gospel to those who are lost and to lift up and encourage others in the body of Christ.
