Grant Shaud
There is some discrepancy about Grant Shaud's birthday. IMDb lists it as Feburary 27, 1961, but MoviePeople Database says his birthday is October 17, 1960. Grant grew up in Radnor, Pennsylvania and attended the University of Richmond where he says he barely graduated. It was in college where Grant realized he wanted to act. His mother did not want him to become an actor, but, (in his own words from an AOL interview), he says: "My father was intrigued. He actually drove me up to New York City. [From] Radnor, PA, where I grew up. I think he had a secret desire to be an actor himself. He loves movies and theater." In 1984, Grant moved to New York City to try to begin a theater career. He appeared in a few plays and then got his first television appearance in a guest role on Kate & Allie. His first big-screen role was a small part in the 1987 film Wall Street. A year later he got the part on Murphy Brown. He didn't do much other acting while playing Miles, although he appeared in a The Distinguished Gentleman with Eddie Murphy in 1992. Grant Shaud left the show in 1996. Although, it seems like Grant hasn't done much since he left the show, he has had a variety of work including a voice-over for a car commecial (the Regal GS by Buick, the car for the "supercharged family"), starring role in an independent film, Men Seeking Women, about three friends making a bet to see who can be the first to get a successful relationship (also starring Will Ferell of SNL fame and Anthony Palmero), the voice of the Foreman in Antz and a small part in HBO's From the Earth, to the Moon.
Men Seeking Women is a Blockbuster exclusive which you can only find at your local Blockbuster video store.
On October 1, 1998 (the day my site officially opened), he did an AOL chat which I wish I knew about. If you have AOL and would like to read the transcript, go to Keyword: AOL Live, click on "Search" and type in Grant's name.
Trivia About Grant He has a girlfriend, Christa Miller, who is an actress. She plays Kate on The Drew Carey Show.
Grant met Jane Leeves through Faith Ford before she appeared on Murphy Brown (as Audrey, Miles' girlfriend). It got pretty serious but they broke up, although Jane says they are still friends.
Although Miles was Jewish, Grant is not. He is actually Irish-Catholic.
Grant has appeared on many television shows including Murder, She Wrote, The Drew Carey Show, and Lois and Clark.
IMDb says Grant's real name is Eddie, but since IMDb gets info by having people submit it to them, I don't know if this is correct.
According to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Grant was invited back for the Murphy Brown finale, but decided not to reprise his role as Miles.
According to IMDb, Grant has no upcoming movies or TV shows lined up.... He is such a talented actor, I really hopes he has a prosperous acting career! :)
