Plot Synopsis: The producers of this Australian-filmed slasher hope that Cut will be the next Scream--literally. They have taken a cast of young people and combined it with a clever, witty script about a killer stalking teenagers with the hope that audiences both in Australia and in the United States will buy into it and make it successful.
The story is about the cast of a low-budget horror film that is stalked and killed one-by-one. Not exactly ground-breaking territory, but that's not necessarily bad. The film's received a lot of early buzz on the Internet, though test screenings have only generated fair reviews.
Reports indicate that there are alreayd ideas circulating for a Cut 2, which would be based in New York City (where the first film supposedly concludes).
While the film opened on March 2 in Australia, it won't reach the US until the fall, when Trimark will release it theatrically. That's when the real test will occur, and we'll find out just how much like the Scream franchise Cut will prove to be.
