Director: James Isaac
Writer: Todd Farmer
Starring: Kane Hodder, Melyssa Aide, and Lisa Ryder
Release Date: 2001
Plot Synopsis: On a "field trip" in the future (some 400 years or so), a group of high schoolers on a spaceship come across Earth. Digging a little deeper, they discover the cryogenically frozen body of Jason Voorhees, and wouldn't you know it, pretty soon the big guy is back on the rampage (in a film that supposedly has the largest body count of the series--28!).
NEWS:
11/12--So, check out that poster, eh? Uh...yeah. Well, general net fan reaction has apparently been good (though for the life of me I can't understand why! This thing looks rather...uh, stupid). If you ask me.....I feel those initial doubts I had about this project starting to creep in...)
10/23--Or is it?
Turns out that "official" release date of August 17, 2001 is not official, and no real date has been set as of yet. The New Line execs are supposed to see the movie sometime this week, and a date will be set after that.
10/20--Well, as of today it's official: The release date has been postponed until August 17, 2001. Quite the unfortunate turn of events, I'd have to say, as now the film will no longer be opening on a Friday the 13th (not to mention the fact that we'll have to wait another four months for the flick). Bad news....
8/23--The date has been set: April 13, 2001 will be the day that Jason X hits theaters across the country. Will it throw some life back into the series? Maybe. Will we all go see it, no matter how bad it looks? Of course! After all, it is a Jason movie.
4/27--The film is definitely shooting, and to prove it, here's some photos that were stolen directly from the set. The first one is a quick shot of the "Frozen Jason" model, and the second is of make-up people prepping Kane Hodder (in Jason garb) for a shot. Check 'em out--definitely an improvement over the Jason make-up in Jason Goes To Hell, but still not nearly as cool as part 7 and 8.

3/24--Casting news has finally been posted, and the film is supposedly being shot right now. If all goes as planned, this flick should actually make it to theaters by the projected date of Fall 2000...now whether it will be any good remains to be seen, though I've heard nothing but great things coming out of people who've read the script...I just don't know...
2/02--A brief script review was posted on FridayThe13th.com which gives a very positive view of the storyline for Jason X. The reviewer concurred with the common fear of Jason X turning out like other horror-in-space movies (like the abysmal Hellraiser: Bloodline), but seemed to indicate that this script blows those other movies out of the water. This is good news, as the makes about the third or fourth person who's read the script and feels that it is strong--or, at least, not as bad as you would think given the "Jason in space" setting.
1/13--Film is scheduled to begin in February in Ontario, Canada. Supposedly, this whole space station setting is the actual setting for the film, not just a rumor (as I had previously hoped). The story apparently revolves around scientists discovering Jason's remains and cloning them, and the last fourth of the film is supposed to include a cyborg Jason....wow. I'm beginning to wonder if this is such a good idea after all...
8/25--According to FridayThe13th.com, the film is called Jason X, not Friday the 13th 2000 (as previously reported). All that is known at this point is that the script takes the action away from Crystal Lake and does not include any of the crap that made Jason Goes To Hell so bad (namely, body-jumping....nuff said). Apparently, Kane Hodder loves the script and is ready to go. Shooting is scheduled to begin in February, pending New Line likes the script enough.
