Review: Eighty years ago, a sorcerer was put to death for supposedly taking the lives of several local innocents. At his execution, he vowed the "streets would run red with blood", and sure enough, one year later, Jack-O, the Pumpkinman, paid the town a visit. He was stopped temporarily, but has now returned to continue his ramapage.
Jack-O is a movie that does have a lot of heart, but very, very little substance. I can tell that this one was a labor of love, and that somebody had to really like horror movies in order to get this thing made (after all, Linnea Quigley--whose only really big credits are Night of the Demons and Silent Night, Deadly Night--gets top billing). And there's a lot of good stuff thrown in between the cracks. It takes place in suburbia, on Halloween, and features a few funny lines and some nice themes...but even these fail to make up for the fact that this is one terribly structured, terribly edited mish-mash of a movie. Like I said, there's a lot of good intentions here, but none of them really come to fruition.
And just who the hell is that fat guy from the beginning?
