Review: Nightmare 5, while still having cool death scenes, funny lines from Freddy, and some good teenager drama, is probably the worst of the series. There's just nothing special.
Freddy is reborn in the dreams of Alice's newly conceived unborn child, and does away with a new crop of her friends. There's some new interaction with Amanda Krueger, Freddy's mother, and we get to see Robert Englund without the Freddy make-up in flashback sequence, but other than that, this movie just isn't all that cool.
Trivia: John Skipp and Craig Spector, who wrote the story for Nightmare 5, are well-known authors of several splatter-punk novels and comic books. They write great stories, which makes me wonder if perhaps the original story for Dream Child was a lot cooler than the finished film.
