Review: Set ten years after the events of Nightmare 5, Freddy's Dead begins with an introduction that claims that Freddy has succeeded in killing every teenager in Springwood. We then meet a young man (he goes by the name John Doe) who comes to think that perhaps he might be Freddy's child, and that's why he's been able to live so long.
Well, he's wrong, but that doesn't mean Freddy won't have some fun with him. This "final" installment in the series doesn't quite measure up to the level it should (it was supposed to be Freddy's last hurrah, after all), but it's still pretty good. There's a few good deaths, some funny lines, and the last 15 minutes of the film were shown in 3-D in theaters, with special glasses given out at the box-office. Iggy Pop even did a great eulegy tune for the soundtrack. But rest assured, Freddy is not dead, for he returns in Wes Craven's New Nightmare.
