Review: What a flick! And quite the surprise, I might add.
Not to be confused with the 1983 film Death Screams (which is what the Internet Movie Database brings up when you search for this title), Night Screams is pure gratuity from start to finish, and a damned good 80s slasher flick, as well.
David is the most popular, richest, most skilled athlete at his high school...and he's got a problem controlling his anger (not that this has ANYTHING to do with the plot, but they do make a big deal out of it). And he's got a girlfriend that nobody else likes...poor kid. Anyway, on the night his parents are away and he's throwing a party (to celebrate the football scholarship he's just won...or something like that), two escaped convicts take up refuge in his mansion and start doing away with his friends....oooh, but that's just the beginning....because this movie also has a twist--and let me tell you, it has nothing to do with Davey!
Like I said, this is full of gratuity--death scenes, sex scenes (even porno video footage), a dopey sympathetic main character, his nuerotic girlfriend, and the squad of jealous pom-pom girls who all want to be in her place. And we can't forget the shamelessly bad pop culture references. Whew! What a flick. Give it a try, if you can find it!
Trivia: First of all, as stated above, Night Screams is so obscure that it's not even listed in the Internet Movie Database. Secondly in the opening scene (which is never fully explained), the two characters are seen watching a slasher movie on their television. This movie, recognizable by its fencing-gear-clad slasher, is none other than Graduation Day.
