Review: This is a great little slasher flick--definitely the best of the Prom Night sequels.
Having absolutely nothing to do with the original film, Hello Mary Lou tells the story of Mary Lou Maloney, the tramp of her class in 1957 who made it to prom queen status, only to be burned alive accidentally thanks to her jealous boyfriend.
Thirty years later, Mary Lou's spirit inhabits the body of the next soon-to-be-prom-queen in hopes of reliving the moment and getting revenge on those responsible for her death.
The deaths are cool and clever (the locker room scene just amazes me for some reason), the dialogue is lame but original--in fact, this film is somewhat of a preview of what would become Scream, with the characters being self-aware (one makes several references to The Exorcist, and the whole film operates as a homage to slasher flicks, particularly Carrie).
Plus, there's just some weird, whacky shit in this movie that makes it worth watching--like a child's hobby-horse that comes to life and a science experiment involving a AM/FM radio made from a potato (?). Definitely worth picking up.

Trivia: The homages are everywhere. A science teacher has the name "Mr. Craven", referencing Wes Craven of Nightmare on Elm Street fame, and the main character Vicki's last name is Carpenter, bringing to mind Halloween director John Carpenter.
Oh yeah, and Michael Ironside is in this movie, and that man has never had a bad role (check out Total Recall or the V: The Final Battle miniseries if you don't believe me--the man's just awesome).
Finally, the film is also known as The Haunting of Hamilton High.
