Review: Psycho III picks up about a month after the events of Psycho II. There's this nun who tries to kill herself, gets banished from the convent, and eventually ends up at the Bates Motel. She also bears a striking resemblence (at least in Norman's mind) to Marion Crane from the first film.
Once again, this sequel relies heavily on the influence of the original film, both in scenes and in dialogue. The rest of the movie is, well, gratuitous. Everything about it screams cheesey and blatant, which isn't necessarily bad (as long as it's done well), but Psycho III just doesn't have the umph in order to make the grade. It eventually gets too boring to bother with.
On the plus side, we do find out for sure that the old lady from Psycho II who claimed to be Norman's "real" mother was lying, finally securing the fact that Norma Bates was in fact Norman's mother.
Trivia: Jeff Fahey is a great character actor who has appeared in such recent horror flicks as Body Parts and the otherwise abysmal The Lawnmower Man.
