Review: Rush Week is pretty generic--a killer on campus, a number of possible suspects, an investigation, and then the chase scene/resolution. What makes it good is that it follows the rules pretty well, keeping the characters in line and having a visually interesting killer (this one uses a double-bladed axe and wears a cloak/mask). The fraternity where all this shit is happening is a pretty funny place to watch, and all of the brothers play their pointless parts very well.
What doesn't work in the film is the fact that it's kinda boring and the death scenes aren't anything special. That, and there's not enough of them. There's plenty of perfectly good victim characters that are introduced but then never dealt with. There's a squeaky-clean leader of a rival fraternity that everyone can wait to see get axed, but, alas, it never happens. Too bad.
The film's one redeeming quality is the school newspaper cheif/guidance counselor who likes to trip out in his office and meditate (and his name is "Cosmo"). The rest of the movie's...well, junk.
