Review: Courtney (played by Crystal Bernard of TV's Wings fame), Valerie's younger sister from the first film, is the main character of this stunning sequel that was made in the heyday of the big hair 80s (and it shows).
Five years after the events of the first film, Valerie has been committed to an asylum while Courtney and her mother attempt to live in peace. However, nightmares plague 17-year-old Courtney. She and the other three girls in her "band" get together one weekend for some fun at one of their parents' new condos. Once there, all hell breaks lose for Courney as she starts to hallucinate and have dreams of the "driller killer"--no relation to the killer from the first movie, except in the use of the drill as a weapon--a wisecracking rock guitar player whose instrument sports a large drill on the end of it.
And damn does Courtney hallucinate! One dream after another after another, and then some! In fact, she has so many of these damn visions that you eventually find yourself begging for the driller killer to show up for real and put an end to the hallucinations! Unfortunately, the killer doesn't show up for real until the last half-hour of the movie.
Which means that what precedes the slashing is about an hour of "exposition" that includes some truly god-awful 80s music (and this is coming from a guy who fucking loves 80s music) and some really really funny melodrama between Courtney and her new beau (who's played by Rob Lowe's sibbling Patrick).
So, is it any good? Well, yes and no. You'll no doubt find yourself laughing at a good deal of this stuff, and there's certainly a fair amount of blood in the flick (mostly in the hallucinations), but overall this one just doesn't have quite the punch that the first flick had, and the endless stream of dreams and hallucinations tend to get really tiring really fast. If you're a fan of crap movies from this period of the late 80s, you might get a kick out of this, but otherwise, stear clear.

Trivia: Also know as Don't Let Go (don't ask me!).
