Review: Ahh, the days of the early 90s low-budget direct-to-video glory. It was a time when just about any and every would-be filmmaker in the United States could find work for New Horizons pictures, spearheaded by legendery producer/dirctor Roger Corman. Most of the pictures churned out in this period...well, suck. And in that department, Sorority House Massacre II doesn't disappoint!
There's no connection between this flick and the first Sorority House Massacre movie. Instead, when our crop of young sorority chicks show up at this film's locale, they are introduced to a building history that features a flashback using footage from the first Slumber Party Massacre film! The girls set about their usual tasks of cleaning up the house, taking showers, having a spooky seance, taking showers, changing clothes (in front of windows, of course), taking showers, etc. The deaths start coming pretty quick. In fact, the pacing is one thing that this movie definitely had going for it. There's not one wasted minute....well, okay, that's not true. Just what the hell did those two detectives have to do with any of this? They're introduced, seen in several cutaway scenes, and then they disappear! No point!
That aside, there's a lot that can be enjoyed in this movie. The deaths aren't very creative, but they are bloody (and there's an added bonus of being able to see the shadow of the katsup bottle squirting the fake blood on the walls!). In addition, there's this guy named Orville Ketchum (a surname, not his real name), who plays "himself"....and that is a role of a large fat man who takes FOREVER to walk across the street, leers at the chicks, and ultimately can't be killed! Oh, and what's with the stock footage lightning strikes? It's hilarious.
Don't be expecting anything but a Z-grade horror movie when you check this out, but if it's laughable crap you're looking for, you can't do much better than Sorority House Massacre II.
