Jason X--coming in 2001!

2/23--The Halloween 8 page has been updated with some supposedly true news regarding the title and storyline of the new film.

2/6--No new reviews for this update, but I do have a few on the backburner (it's just a matter of finding time to watch them!). On the news front, however, I do have a few things of note. Jason X, according to all reports, will be coming out on August 17, 2001. That kinda sucks, but at this point, I'm really beyond caring. Next up, rumours are flying around lately that a third Urban Legend movie will be released, and indications are now that it will unite the survivors of the previous two casts. Now that sounds a little kooky, but remember that this is just in the developmental stage (and it's a rumour, to boot).

1/18--Two new reviews posted today, an old film (Honeymoon Horror) and a newer one (Kolobos). Be sure to give those a read, and keep visiting those links!

1/15--The review for Jack Frost 2 was finally added today. Enjoy it!

1/4/01--Happy New Year, and welcome back to our third year in existence here at the Slasher Movie Archives. There's been a lot going on in "regular life", so I haven't updated in a while. Lots of news: first of all, it looks like the August 17, 2001 date is official for Jason X, which really blows. Fuck New Line for this one. Next up, the director of Samhain has posted some trailers for the movie, and I can't fucking wait to see this flick. Check those out. Jack Frost 2 is out now, but I haven't had the chance to see it yet. Expect a review shortly. I also hope to start work on the Class of Slasher High section sometime (that's my New Year's resolution). Anyway, take it easy, and as always, thanks for visiting the site. Oh, and one more thing: got an e-mail from Tom, the guy who runs the Slasher Mansion. Very nice guy, running a great site. Be sure to check it out. He also starred in Party Crasher!

12/20--Dig my review of House On Sorority Row, added today.

12/16--A new review is up for the film The Boogeyman.

12/7--It's been a slow couple of weeks as far as updates (mostly due to school and work--it is the holidays, after all), but hopefully that will start to change. I mostly posted this update to let you know that the producers of Samhain have posted some killer new screenshots on their official site, and this production is really coming along nicely (definitely gets the seal of approval from the Slasher Movie Archives!).

11/23--New York Ripper was added to the site today. Also, check the Coming Attractions page for info on the new Hellraiser film.

11/20--Check out the A-Z Index for today's new addition, Funeral Home.

11/13--I added a new review today, for the film Don't Open Till Christmas.
Also, there's a new flick on the Coming soon page called Samhain. Be sure to check out the info on that.

11/12--Well, if you look up above, you'll see the teaser poster for Jason X. I personally think it looks like shit, but most people seem to be pretty content with it. Oh well. Nobody likes what I seem to like, anyway. Let's just hope he looks better in this Cyber-Jason form in the movie...or else.

10/31--Just wanted to wish everyone a Happy Halloween!

10/30--The review for Psycho Cop has been posted.

10/29--A review of Hellraiser: Inferno has been posted.

10/21--Added a review of Class Reunion Massacre today.

10/20--That rumoured release date change of Jason X turned out to be official today. The new date is August 17, 2001. Bummer.
In other news, today was also the US premiere (on the USA television network, unfortunately) of Cherry Falls. Check out that page to find out how the flick was. It's rumoured that the film will be going to video in January 2001. Let's hope for an uncut version!

10/18--Party Crasher, the new direct-to-video flick has been reviewed.
In other news, according to the Fangoria website, the release date of Jason X has been pushed back until August 17, 2001! Let's hope this is not truth! Also, fans of the Child's Play movies are being encouraged by creator Don Mancini to write to MCA/Universal to tell them that you're interested in seeing his Seed of Chucky film get made.

10/17--Finally got a review of the new direct-to-video flick School's Out.

10/15--The Links section got a brief facelift today, with the addition of two new links. Be sure to check out those sites!

10/12--A review is up for the early Daryl Hannah flick The Final Terror.

10/5--New information was added today for the proposed sequel to School's Out, the German TV slasher that just hit video here in the states (I've yet to see it, however, as no one around here stocks it!). It's called Island of Fear. In other news, check out the scripts page to dig the screenplay for Cherry Falls.

10/3--It's been a slow couple of weeks in terms of news, but I did find out today a little information. First, the Australian slasher flick Cut will unfortunately be bypassing the theaters and going straight to video in May of 2001. Another one bites the dust...
In other news, Urban Legends: Final Cut managed to reach the number 1 spot last weekend (it was edged out this past weekend, however), either a good sign (the film was well-received) or a bad sign (the box office did abysmal revenue, but this happened to be the best of the worst).
The Independent Film Channel will be broadcasting a slew of horror movies througout October, and of particular interest to slasher fans will be the airing of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Be sure to check out some of the other great movies they're showing, too (including Night of the Living Dead, Dawn of the Dead, and Re-Animator.

9/23--I caught Urban Legends: The Final Cut last night, and here's the review.

9/21--Today, a new review of the film Savage Weekend is up.

9/18--The Massacre collection is complete, with the review for Sorority House Massacre II posted today. In slasher news, Cherry Falls will be going straight to cable on October 20. This is a sad turn of events, as I was really looking forward to seeing the flick uncut in the theater. Bummer.

9/15--Check out the review for the first Sorority House Massacre flick.

9/14--Today's new review is for a late 80s flick called The Outing. Check it out.

9/13--Lots of stuff today. First of all, a slew of direct-to-video flicks are on their way. I added info on the Coming Attractions page for Party Crasher and the German-made School's Out. I also posted a review of the brand new direct-to-video Friday the 13th homage Bloody Murder.

9/4--Slumber Party Massacre 3, the best of the bunch, is up.

9/3--The review for Slumber Party Massacre 2 is up.

9/2--With the recent release of the Slumber Party Massacre Trilogy on DVD, I've finally had a chance to see them. The review of the first film is up as of today, and the others will follow shortly.

8/21--More work on the site (updating individual film reviews, etc.) has been done today. I've also written up information regarding the on-again-off-again I Know What You Did Last Summer 3 film, which has been officially acknowledged by Colubia/Tri-Star. I also added a review of the film Movie House Massacre.

8/18--I've added a whole slew of new information regarding the new All American Massacre flick, which is scheduled to be released on the film's official site on Halloween of this year. Check it out, the film looks awesome.

8/17--A new review for Trick Or Treats is up.

8/16--Added a review for Crinoline Head. Also, the official release date of Jason X is set for Friday, April 13, 2001, and in related news, Mark Protosevich (writer of The Cell will be writing the latest draft (and hopefully the last) of Freddy Vs. Jason.

8/15--A little more site work done today (there's finally something up on the Holiday Slashers page), and some interesting news. It seems that Don Mancini has confirmed that the Seed of Chucky film is officially dead. He claims that he's still trying to get something put together at New Line Cinema that would essentially be a Freddy vs. Chucky movie, but nothing is set in stone.
What is set in stone, however, is that there will be a Halloween 8, although there's no official story or title yet (they've scrapped the H2K title, though, and that's nothing but good news!). Jamie Lee Curtis will return, but only in a cameo.

8/12--It's looking like that news of Cherry Falls going straight to HBO is pretty solid, but we're still waiting for some kind of confirmation (i.e., a commerical on HBO).
In other coming soon news, by all acounts, the upcoming film Valentine (about a college nerd snubbed by girls who extracts his revenge on them years later) is going to be a slasher flick, possible a franchise. The studio hopes that if the film works, they'll be able to have a reliable franchise of "romantic horror" flicks to distribute every year or so around Valentine's Day. We'll see how that works out.

8/10--A brand new review for the film Offerings is up. Also, there's a Special Edition DVD of Sleepaway Camp that just got released, and it's definitely worth checking out (especially the audio commentary!).

8/8--Big news today in terms of the Fall release schedule. First of all, both Urban Legends: The Final Cut and Cherry Falls have dropped their original dual release date of September 29; the first film will hit theaters a week earlier on September 22. The second film, Cherry Falls will NOT, as of this point, be released in theaters! The MPAA was calling for such extreme cuts to be made involving a "climactic high school orgy scene in which lots of teens are brutally murdered" that the producers have sold the film to HBO! HBO claims it will run the film this fall, with a current date planned for sometime in November. Now, as far as I'm concerned, this is a big blow. With the absolutely stellar fucking reviews this movie was getting (from people like Anthony Timpone, editor of Fangoria raving about it), this film could have been poised to have a big impact on the horror community and revitalized the slasher genre. Now it looks like it's doomed for cable and video only. This does, however, protect the integrity of the film, as the version that will be shown on HBO WILL be complete, and feature all of the sex and gore in its entirety. Good news, but still not as good as it would have been seeing the flick in theaters. There are rumors that it might see theatrical release in New York and L.A., but these are unconfirmed at this time.

7/31--Little more site work done today, as well as two new reviews: Night School and Dario Argento's Deep Red.

7/20--Continued restructuring the site today, as well as added a review for the 1988 flick Intruder. There's also some interesting news on the Coming Attractions front, with a (finally!) official starting date announced for the production of Freddy Vs. Jason. In other Jason news, Jason X is looking like its release has been postponed until April of next year. Also, in an interesting bit of scheduling that will probably be altered in the coming months, both Urban Legends: The Final Cut and Cherry Falls have been given the same release date of September 29, 2000. I hope this actually doesn't change, as it reminds of the glory days of the slasher craze when a new flick (or sometimes two!) would come out every weekend. A nice trend. Maybe if these flicks are as good as many people are saying they are, we'll see this sort of thing continue.

7/18--After saying I was going to do it for months and months, I finally broke down and redid the site a little bit. As a result, the counter got reset and I lost the guestbook! Oh well, these things happen, I suppose. Anyway, hope everyone enjoys the new site design. It will continue to improve (hopefully) over the next few weeks).

7/6--Two of the worst slasher flicks of all time have been added: Jack Frost and Uncle Sam. Also, I'm going to be working on a site revamp pretty soon, which should hopefully make the site look a little cooler and be easier to navigate.

6/21--Updated the Coming Attractions page with some new dates for the flicks coming out this summer and fall.

6/19--Added a review for The Dorm That Dripped Blood.

6/15--Two new flicks have been added today: From the early 80s, Whodunnit, and from the late 80s, Bloodmoon. Check 'em out.

6/01--The Singles Index has been updated with new reviews for an old film, Curtains, and a new one, Lover's Lane.

5/25--The Burning, a movie that has gained a sort of legendery status among slasher fans as one of Tom Savini's lesser-known works, has been added to the Singles archives.

5/24--I added a review of Drive-In Massacre to the Singles page today.

4/27--The Jason X page has been updated, including the addition of some on-set photos of the Jason props and Kane Hodder in full make-up!

4/9/00--Check out a review of Tourist Trap.

3/29/00--I've added the new Final Destination review to the Slasher Singles page.

3/24/00--Rumours started to circulate this week about a Candyman 4, so there's a new page devoted to that in the Coming Attractions section. Also, I've updated the Jason X page with casting information. I'm hoping to get around to a lot of site work sometime soon, including a new, more fancy look for the page. We'll see.

3/10/00--I did a little bit of site maintenence today, including refreshing some of the Available On Video info for some movies that have changed since their page was initially written. The scripts page was also updated, with brand new links replacing some of the ones that had previously no longer worked.

03/01/00--The Coming Attractions page has been updated again, with (finally) info on the new Australian slasher/comedy Cut. In other news, the 25th Anniversary Texas Chainsaw Massacre film might be dead in the water, as another company is apparently going ahead with an adaption of the story of Ed Gein, the Wisconsin murderer on whom the Chainsaw and Psycho films are based.

02/15/00--New info on the next Hellraiser movie has been added to the Coming Attractions page.

02/08/00--The review for Scream 3 is up. Check it out.

02/01/00--He Knows You're Alone was on cable last week, and I happened to catch it. Check out my review.

01/13/00--The Coming Attractions page has been updated with new information on Jason X and Cherry Falls.

01/12/00--Today I added two new reviews: Jack-O and Night of the Scarecrow.

01/07/00--A new review of Final Exam can be found on the Singles page, as well as a (finally) review of Sleepaway Camp 2: Unhappy Campers.

12/22/99--The Urban Legend 2 page has been updated, including the addition of the new title for the film (Urban Legends: The Final Cut) and a link to the official site.

12/13/99--I've done a little bit of site maintenence today, as well as added a review of Phantom of the Mall: Eric's Revenge to the Slasher Singles Page.

12/01/99--Time, once again, for the semi-monthly update that nobody reads. First of all, Urban Legend 2 is moving along nicely, which means it's probably the only slasher movie currently in development that will actually make it to theaters on-schedule. Friday the 13th X has undergone a name-change, to Jason X, which is fine. What is not fine is the supposed plot of this film, which, according to those who've read the script, takes place 500 years in the future, on a space station, with a virtual reality Jason! Frankly, this idea sucks. That's all I'm going to say about that.
In other news, Scream 3 promotional stuff is starting to appear, including posters and the teaser trailer (which aired on TV accompanying the horribly edited version of the first film). That's about all for now.

10/2/99--Well, my friends, my favorite month of the year is here, and this Halloween season is looking to be pretty exciting. First of all, in recent news, I picked up the DVD boxed set of the Nightmare On Elm St. series. It is AWESOME. This is easily the coolest home video collection EVER.
Now, on the bad news side, Scream 3 has officially been postponed until February 4, 2000. This was due to the "overcrowded" holiday release schedule. I have some thoughts on this, but you can read those on the page.
Finally, some new info on the rapidly developing Urbang Legend 2.

9/22--Once again, to all my (ahem) dedicated readers (end of joke), I apologize for the lack of recent updates. I haven't had much time to check out any flicks, and there hasn't been much in the way of news. I did, however, get to meet the one and only Robert Englund (Freddy of Nightmare On Elm Street fame) at the Darkness Haunted Theme Park two weekends ago. Robert was very friendly, signing autographs for 4 freakin' hours! He also mentioned some info regarding the state of Freddy Vs. Jason, which can be found on that film's page. Check it out. Catch you later.

7/18--I was able to catch the premiere of Candyman: Day of the Dead the other night on HBO, and I've posted my review of it. Also, in other news, filming in finally underway for Scream 3, and the cast has been announced. Check out that page for more info. Take it easy.

7/15--Hey. To all of you who have been visiting this site frequently (all two of you), I wanted to apologize for the recent lack of updates. I've been working two jobs and have not had much time to rent and review many slasher flicks. I've also not had much time to surf the web and pick up info on upcoming films. The site is still alive, however, and will be updated whenever I can possibly do so. Thanks a lot.

6/10--A review of the film Bloody Birthday has been added to the Slasher Singles Page.

6/4--Added a couple of new links today, as well as updating the news on some coming attractions--mostly just date changes, etc. I hope to get back into the habit of renting and reviewing within the next week or so.

5/16--I've updated the news regarding Urban Legend 2 and added a page for the upcoming Candyman: Day Of The Dead flick.
In other news, I've finally given up all hope that we'll see the Freddy Vs. Jason movie before 2000--this comes thanks to a comment from the head of New Line Cinema who claims that filming will not begin until the fall of this year, but assures that the film will be made. However, do to the extreme lack of progress on that film, another group over at New Line has started to develop another Jason film, which they are currently calling Friday the 13th 2000. Nothing else is known, but you can be sure I'll be following this closely as it develops.

5/8--I've added a new scoop regarding the third film in the I Know What You Did Last Summer series.

5/3--The full review of Idle Hands is now up on the Slasher Singles Page.

4/22--Check out the Slasher Singles Page for reviews of Evil Laugh and Pledge Night, and check the Not-Quite-Slasher-Movies for a review of The Dentist.

4/19--Added reviews of American Gothic and Cheerleader Camp to the Singles Page. Also, check out more plot rumors on the Scream 3 page.

4/15--Updated the Scream 3 page with the film's official logo and some rumors on plot and filming. Also added a new link for the film. In other news, the Idle Hands Official Site is up, and states that the release date for the film has changed from April 23 to April 30.

4/14--Check out the Slasher Singles area for reviews of the films New Year's Evil and Night Screams.

4/6--I Still Know What You Did Last Summer hit video today, and I've posted a review for the totally inane direct-to-video flick Pinocchio's Revenge.

4/5--Dig the new review for a movie I just caught on cable the other night, Fever Lake.

4/4--My Easter present today comes in the form of two new reviews in the Slasher Singles category: Happy Birthday To Me and Splatter University. Enjoy them!

3/27--I added the flick Return To Horror High to the Slasher Singles Page.

3/23--Bride Of Chucky is now out on home video--go rent it. And in related news, Universal has announced plans for a fifth Child's Play movie--this one to be called Seed Of Chucky. Don Mancini is once again writing and may direct this one, as well.

3/22--Added a review for the brand new and absolutely appalling video flick Milo over in the Slasher Singles area.

3/18--Just in time for the holiday, I've added a review for the awesome 80s flick April Fool's Day. I've also dedicated an entire page to those Slasher Action Figures I mentioned in the last update. Be sure to check it out.

3/15--Added a review for a TV slasher flick from last year called I've Been Waiting For You over in the Slasher Singles Page. And if you're interested in slasher memorabillia, you might care to know that rumors are circulating regarding the next wave of Todd McFarlane's Movie Maniacs action figures. The confirmed figures in the set include Michael Myers from Halloween, Ghostface from Scream, The Crow, and a Bride Of Chucky two-pack featuring Chucky and Tiffany. There are also rumors of a Norman Bates figure, a Pumpkinhead, and another Chucky (this one in his original form before he was ripped apart and stitched back together). I'll post some pictures as soon as I can, but until I do, you can check them out in the latest issue of Toy Fair magazine.

3/14--I'm finally back from vacation in Florida, and I've discovered some crazy things over the past days. First of all, The Rage: Carrie 2 was released this past Friday, and you can check out the full review on the film's page. In addition, I caught the trailer for the next slasher flick on the horizon, Idle Hands, which ran before Carrie 2, and it's pretty cool. Check out the page for more info on that. Finally, while on vacation I happened to flip through the cable channels and discovered Wishmaster 2 already on cable! It hasn't been released on video (at least, not to my knowledge) yet, but it was playing on HBO. Given this fact, it seems like an appropriate time to add the Wishmaster films to the site, which I'll begin working on in the next day or so. Later!

3/2--First of all, I've added the Halloween screenplay to the Scripts Page. Second, an ad in Variety magazine has just confirmed (as of yesterday) that pre-production has begun on Scream 3, though the cast is still sketchy. Go to the page for more information on that. Finally, the Official Homepage for the upcoming flick The Rage: Carrie 2 has actually gotten around to posting some stuff from the film. There's a ton of stills on the site, and most of them look pretty good. Still, looks can be decieving, so we'll have to wait until March 12 to see if the film can live up to the hype MGM is trying to build around it.

3/1--Added the Candyman Series tonight.

2/28--It's been a busy weekend, but I've had a chance to add new reviews of Tobe Hooper's The Funhouse and a pair of Jill Shoelen flicks, the Robert Englund version of Phantom Of The Opera and Popcorn, all over in the Slasher Singles area. Enjoy them!

2/25--Over in the Slasher Singles area, you can check out two new reviews of high school flicks, Hell High and Slaughter High.

2/23--Today saw the addition of the Silent Night, Deadly Night Series and a brand-new direct-to-video slasher flick called The Clown At Midnight to the site, as well as a review of Urban Legend. More to come soon!

2/17--Well, it's been a few days (sorry), but I've returned, and brought with me the entire Prom Night Series and a little college slasher flick called Rush Week. I'll be at a concert tomorrow night, so I won't be able to post anything new, but hopefully I'll update again on Friday.

2/14--Happy Valentine's Day! I've done a little spell-checking today, as well as added reviews of Sleepaway Camp III: Teenage Wasteland and Terror Train. Check 'em out!

2/11--The entire Psycho Series pages are up now.

2/9--I added a few links tonight, as well as dedicating a whole page to Slasher Screenplays. I'm hoping to get back on track with the reviews tomorrow night.

2/5--I've done a little more spelling correcting, as well as finally getting around to doing the Slasher Hall of Fame, the Slasher Links, and wrote up a little introduction/mission statement for myself and the site over at the Slasherkid page. Oh, and I've added a review of Sleepaway Camp. More to come soon, hopefully!

2/3--I've been spending the majority of my WebTime working on my friend's band's page, so I haven't had a chance to work much here. What I have been doing is a little site maitenence, trying to correct any spelling errors or links that aren't working. Let me know if you catch any more, or any incorrect information.

1/27/99--Huge update! Created the Scream and I Know What You Did Last Summer series pages in the Slasher Series section. Also, I added the scripts for the following films: A Nightmare On Elm Street, A Nightmare On Elm Street Part 2: Freddy's Revenge, A Nightmare On Elm Street 3: The Dream Warriors, and Halloween H20:Twenty Years Later.

1/26/99--Added a review of My Bloody Valentine to the Slasher Singles page.

1/25/99--The What Is A Slasher Movie? section is up and running, complete with a synopsis of the birth of the slasher genre written by me. Also, I've finished the Hellraiser Series pages.

1/18/99--The Fangoria Convention was, at least, semi-successful. Tom Savini did not show, but I did get to speak with Kane Hodder (Jason), who informed me that New Line is still trying to get the script worked out (it must be on the sixth or seventh draft by now--not a good sign). They're still planning on a fall '99 release, however. We'll keep our fingers crossed.

1/14/99--I've begun work on the Hellraiser Series pages, but will not be able to finish them until at least sometime nextweek. In some related news, however, I will be flying to New York this weekend for the Fangoria Magazine Weekend of Horrors, and will hopefully return with some big juicy rumors/reviews/news. Have a good weekend!

1/13/99--Added the Texas Chainsaw Massacre Series to the Slasher Series page.

1/10/99--Added two new entries, Graduation Day and Black Christmas, to the Slasher Singles Page.

1/8/99--The Child's Play Series Page is completed.

1/4/99--The Friday the 13th and Nightmare On Elm Street series pages are completed.

12/30/98--The Halloween Series Page is completed.

12/26/98--Principal pages are created for the site. Work begins on the Series page.

12/23/98--The site is born! Construction begins!
