98° News
HAPPY BIRTHDAY JEFF! April 30, 2000, marked the 27th birthday of my very favorite member of 98°, Jeff Timmons.
You may have heard a new song by 98° heating up your local radio stations. Yes, that's right! 98° is out with a new song! I don't know whether it will become a single or not since a video for 'Still has already been shot, but it has been a countdown favorite on a local Guam radio station, Power 98, for the past week. The song is titled 'The Love That You've Been Looking For', and it is off the motion picture soundtrack for the made-for-TV CBS film 'Jesus'. If you haven't heard it yet, have no fear. Just tune in to Power 98's online station, http://www.power98.com, at 8:00 Guam time (sorry, I don't know what time it will be in your neck of the woods) to listen to it on the McDonald's Big 9 @ 8. Trust me, it will be worth your time... I LOVE this song!
If you didn't catch the 2 Hour Tour with 98° on Disney, you missed out! The show featured a behind-the-scenes look at 98° as they toured and picked a hip new opening act out of three. The chosen group was the LP Outsyders, and they were quite worthy of the honor. They had a smooth blend of hip hop, jazz, r&b, and rap.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY JUSTIN! February 25, 2000, marked Justin Jeffre's 27th birthday.
98° has snagged its very first #1 single! "Thank God I Found You", by Mariah Carey feat. 98° and Joe, debuted on the Billboard charts the week of February 14. Congrats, 98°!
The buzz is that 98°' next single, "Still" will be released sometime in April and their new album in June or July. I guess we'll just have to wait and see...
Jessica Simpson and Nick's heartfelt duet, "Where You Are", is Jessica's next single. The video will be premiering on MTV's "Making the Video" on February 14 (February 28 Guam time - damn!).
In the January 17, 2000, issue of People Magazine, Jessica Simpson and Nick were caught on film in a controversial liplock at MTV's 2Large New Year's bash. See the pic here...
I don't know if you guys have been checking CDNOW's website at http://www.cdnow.com , but they have listed under 98°' section that a new CD will be coming out on January 25, 2000. If you have any information on this, please e-mail me!
The song, "Still", from 98° and Rising, will be 98° next single and next music video. The video was taped during their stay in London for MTV's Fly2K.
Jessica Simpson's duet with Nick, called "Where You Are", will be her next single. The video will world premiere on a future episode of MTV's Making the Video.
If you go to Jessica Simpson's website, http://www.jessicasimpson.com, and read her online diary, you will find some information about her current status with Nick, including what they did on New Year's together...
Congratulations, 98°! Four videos from the fabulous foursome made it to MTV's Top 99 of '99, proving that 98° was one of the best groups of '99 (well, we already knew that!)! 'The Hardest Thing' cam in at #6, 'I Do' came in at #16, 'Because of You' came in at #72, and 'This Gift' came in at #86.
The single to "Thank God I Found You", with Mariah Carey, 98°, and Joe, will be available for you to buy in stores on January 25.
98° is currently taking a long awaited and well deserved break for the month of January. They will probably start recording their next album in February.
The 98°' participation in MTV's Fly2K Sweepstakes is now certain. Commercials are currently running regularly on MTV with the group in it, looking as adorable as ever in flight attendant uniforms.
98° posters are now included in specially marked boxes of Frosted Cheerios!" There are 4 different posters, one of each member. On the back side of the poster is a group pic (of course a different group pic for each member). They fold to be a little more than the size of 4 sheets of 8 1/2" X 11" paper.
98°' song "Fly with Me" is on the motion picture soundtrack for "Pokemon: The First Movie" soundtrack. The soundtrack also features tracks from Christina Aguilera, Britney Spears, Billy Crawford, *NSYNC, and many others! The movie was released on November 9.
98° latest single, "This Gift", is in stores now along with the latest full length album from 98° entitled "98°... This Christmas".
Nick recently recorded a duet with his girlfriend, Jessica Simpson, entitled, "Where You Are". This ballad can be found on Jessica's debut album, "Sweet Kisses". It hit stores 11/9/99, which also happened to be Nick's birthday!
Also, don't forget to pick up 98° official book and video. They make perfect stocking stuffers for the holidays!
98° have received three nominations for the 1999 Billboard Music Video Awards, which will be held November 12, 1999. The nominated videos are "I Do" and "The Hardest Thing"
98° , Christina Aguilera, and LFO are teaming up to bring you the first episode of "2 Hour Tour", which was scheduled to be taped on October 22 and 23, when the group rolled into Evansville, Indiana for a two-night stand at the Evansville Stadium with Vitamin C, No Authority, and a lucky local artist that's already been selected. What is this you ask?? "2 Hour Tour" is a show that will begin airing on Disney next March of 2000, and the first episode will be shown as a special all month long. This show will feature behind the scene action footage, and will feature local artists trying to make their big break by performing as the opening act for some of the biggest names in popular music today. Bands and acts from those areas interested in participating in the "2 Hour Tour" talent search are encouraged to send sample tapes, CDs and VHS tapes to:
