ALPHA WAVE : THE FRUIT TRILOGY

PROLOGUE

"I invoke the power of the pineapple," screamed Rogeth over the howling wind.

Rogeth sat on the edge of the towering cliffs, waves surged and crashed in and out of the rocky cove far below. The sea, salty and bitter, swallowed its enemies whole while at other times when it was more calm there would be no sacrifices to it's watery depths. The rocky, white walls extended skyward for more than 200 feet. A towering, gargantuan, white blot on the landscape, visible from miles away. Sailors were wary of this cove for even at a calm time the waves could suddenly turn nasty - and it was one of those times.

The Sacred Pineapple was held over Rogeth as thunder and lightning roared above him. White, jagged, sheets of flame ripped though the night sky, enveloping it in daylight while the roar of creatures of the storm accompanied every flashing crescendo. The fear surged through Rogeth, pounding in his heart which he thought would burst out of his chest and fall to it's doom down on the sharp, piercing, rocks below. The wind was howling round in a cyclone of terror, whipping Rogeth's clothes and causing his fragile cloak to be torn from around his neck. The blue velveteen material was whirled around his head, the ragged ends being ripped further. Then suddenly the pieces took flight and the flock of clothes ascended to the heavens.

"This is for you Aneth," He screamed, thoughts of his beloved wife flashing through his head. Her auburn hair tumbling down her shoulders, her deep brown eyes, calm and tranquil. Her sky blue dress dirty and bloodied, the dagger sticking from her chest. Her final rasping breath as her life faded from her, while Rogeth held her in his arms. "This is for you," he repeated more for himself than for anyone else.

"For your death every one of those accursed creatures will die, everyone of them." Rogeth threw the sacred pineapple with all his might down into the cove below. The sea calmed momentarily and Rogeth stood in anticipation. He wondered whether the fruit spirit which he had invoked would respond. Suddenly raging fire erupted from the calm sea water below and hurled itself up the cliff. White stone was blackened and burned such was the intensity of the flame. The plume of fire blasted over the top of the cliff knocking Rogeth flat onto his back. But still it did not stop. The fire struck the sky then spread out to cover the heavens as far as the eye could see.

And on that day the entire sky was aflame.
