6/2007: Tales from the Crypt '72 is on its way...Yay!!! A double feature disc w/ its follow-up Vault of Horror...I just love the atmosphere of those old movies.
5/2007: Still waiting for The Lonely Lady and the rest...Add Neighbors to the list (used to watch it often, for some reason...it was so ODD.) I've wanted to see Eyes of Fire for 20+ yrs., ever since seeing the commercial on late nite TV (was it during the Good Times/Twilight Zone block? I think it was!), looked freaky and I never got to see it.

- The Lonely Lady* - Because I MUST see it again. The most gawdawful movie ever made. Still have that theme song stuck in my head!...[I just know that Blue Underground or some company is gonna bring this out someday! Group it w/ those 'Starring Joan Collins/Written by Jackie Collins' movies in a box set...] *SERIOUSLY...this is my #1 request!
- Tales from the Crypt (1972) - 'eerie', 'creepy', 'horror mood' old movies rule!...[9/07: Hey! It's Here at Last!]
- The Dark Secret of Harvest Home (1978 TV mini-series w/ Bette Davis as the leader of a witch cult.) [I even bid on a VHS copy w/o a box on ebay...didn't win it.]
- The Executioner's Song - TV movie w/ Tommy Lee Jones as Gary Gilmore.
- Rolling Thunder - Only saw it once, but D*MN! What a revenge movie! (Later: The trailer is on the 42nd St. Forever Vol. 2 compilation!!)
- Hearts of Darkness (Apocalypse Now doc.) - Will this ever come out?
- Ode to Billy Joe - well, it's on CMT (Country Music Television) just about every night...
- The Car - and this is on Sci-Fi just about every night...[One of the few VHS tapes I still have.]
- This is Elvis (Doc.)/ Elvis (TV movie)

Would make a great box set: the Romero Dead movies. Not really necessary, but...why hasn't it been done before? I think they make up the most successful series in Horror--NOT $ made, but how each film stands on its own, each builds on the one before, each is a product of their era (acting, f/x, film style.) And all helmed/written by the same person, over a 40 year period! [Update: I have high hopes for Diary of the Dead...Idea sounded kinda "ummmm...I don't know", but some positive reviews have appeared, so I'm eagerly anticipating it now.]

Yep, Evil Dead 2 ranks as one of the Great Films!
- The Top 30 List of my absolute FAVORITE FILMS has been updated for 2006-2007!
- Alien - I will continue to watch it once a year for the rest of my life (Ripley is my heroine.)
Note: Aliens = a worthy follow-up. Let's pretend the others don't exist!
(First time: on VHS in '81. Latest: the director's cut on F/X last night!) - John Carpenter's The Thing - Isolation is scary. The South Pole is very isolated.
Isolation + Claustrophobia + Space Creature on the loose x Paranoia + Fear + Rising Tempers = TERROR! - Phantom of the Paradise - a heartfelt tribute to the latenight creature-revenge flicks, w/ a glam-rock strk. (See cartoon below.)
- Blade Runner - I didn't really truly love it 'til I saw it on the big screen. Go see the 25th ann. re-release!
- Dawn of the Dead - zombie survival training film.
- Taxi Driver - I'm Travis Bickle as a girl!
- Psycho - Norman Bates, real-life monster.
- Jaws - Shark = real-life monster. (Note: If this is on AMC, you have to watch it.)
- Halloween - Michael Myers, NOT a real-life monster...He's the Boogeyman!
- The Texas Chainsaw Massacre - so real and grimy, it's kinda hard to watch!
Deserves the "It's Only a Movie!" tag more than those other lesser drive-in flicks. (Also: I like Pt.2 a lot.) - Phantasm - Just so wth? Flying spheres, dwarves, a Tall Dude ("that mother's strong"), s*x in the cemetary, the Ice Cream Man playing his guitar, the love between big brother & little brother...
Best seen on a local independent channel's late show! (WTTO/21, Summer '88.) - The Empire Strikes Back - The ONLY Star Wars you need. (Favorite scene: Meet the Bounty Hunters.)
Best seen sitting on the floor at a sold-out show! (Summer '80.) - Night of the Living Dead - The Ending that most disturbed me as a child...and then, the end credits made it even worse!
Best seen on a cable movie channel's Halloween-thon (1982.) - Escape from New York - Snake Plissken = Bad mofo.
- The Good, The Bad, & The Ugly - THE greatest score (Ennio Morricone)...
- Once Upon a Time in the West - The Italian Westerns have a sexiness about them, y'know...
- Jackie Brown - The Q.T. that I can watch again & again (sorry to say that the first 2 are so worn out)...This one has the best s'trk. and the touching romance between 'Jackie' & 'Max Cherry'.
- Day of the Dead - First time, a big disappointment*... Years later, a reappreciation. It's the perfect ex. of that.
(*"claustrophobic setting/ unpleasant characters", but that's the whole point!) This is a real "Whaaat?" comparison, but it's to cult horror movies what The Who's It's Hard is to classic rock! - Evil Dead 2 - [Same as above!] Disappointed* first time...LOVE it now.
(*Thought it was "goofy", but that's the whole point!) - Creepshow - Evil comic book come to life (Also: I LOVE the score.)
- Rumble Fish - A great s'trk. and Mickey Rourke as a Wise Old Young Man.
- The Breakfast Club - Always thought that it had a great script, later learned that a lot was improvised (for true?)...
- Risky Business - The other 80s teen movie w/ a great script. The writer/director only did one other film (a BIGGER mystery/loss than John Hughes.)
- Beyond the Valley of the Dolls - The work of a true maverick (Russ Meyer), greatest rock & roll, s*x & drugs movie ever made...
- Slap Shot - The Hansen Bros.!
- This is Spinal Tap will always, always be funny.
- Assault on Precinct 13 - Intro to that Dark/Funny John Carpenter style...and the synth score is the coolest.
- The Exorcist - Just the opening credits scare me! That music! And the 'subliminal' death face in the kitchen (!!!) I love serious horror and this hasn't been topped in 30 yrs.
- American Graffiti - I love 'It All Happens in a Day' movies and this is the best one...
- Dazed and Confused - (See above.) They got the 70s so right...
- The Kill Bill 2-fer - "Vol. 2" is my favorite (B. buried alive; B. vs. Elle; Showdown w/ Bill.)
Vol. 2 ties w/ Phantom/Paradise for BEST END TITLE sequence. - A double feature of Rocky Horror/ Shock Treatment - would love to time-travel back to a dinky NYC theater, hee-hee...(I actually prefer Shock's songs--"Denton" is the highpoint--and listen to the CD all the time!)

Note: I have to leave my tribute to the Phantom on here! I feel so strongly about that flick. I recommend it to all you freaks.
