Well, it's not always at 'home', sometimes it's a splendor-y movie palace afternoon...THE DRIVE-IN is a state of mind...[Unknown factoid: I first kept a list in '85-86(!)...because, y'know, Ms. 45 and Evil Dead just rocked so much.]


At 11:00pm on New Year's Eve, I began watching 2001 on Turner Classic Movies...and thus ended a year's worth of the 'Home Drive-In Experience'...175 is pretty much the tally for the year.
DeCemBER 2000: Stir of Echoes...The Children's Hour...Promised Land...Frenzy...Sleepy Hollow...Castaway...Gone with the Wind...Tron (I want the soundtrack!)...Requiem for a Dream...I finally watched some of Heavy Metal 2000 and actually liked it, despite the horrible noisy music in it...The Birds (Damn, how many times am I gonna watch that???)...Planet of the Apes...Unbreakable...Paradise Lost: The Child Murders at Robin Hood Hills...The Ninth Gate

August 2000 (I saw 40 movies!!!): These are the movies I've seen during QT QUATRO (Weeklong film fest): Night 1--Secret Agents: HammerHead, Kiss the Girls and Make Them DIE; I left half-way into Lightning Bolt...2--Japanese Monsters/Italian Horror: The Mysterians, The Psychic, Mothra, Suspiria, and, I left half-way into Destroy All Monsters (It was 6 am and they still had 2 more movies to go!)...Night 3--Heist Movies: Gambit (1966, w/ Michael Caine and Shirley McClaine, THIS IS A GREAT MOVIE! Try to find it!), The Master's Touch, The Muthers...Night 4--Sex Movies (WORST movies of the fest): Succubus, Sex on the Run [Only things worth mentioning: The Best of Sex and Violence (a compilation of sleezy greezy drive-in trailers), and a vintage trailer for Behind the Green Door (my first time seeing actual X-rated footage on the big screen. Whoo!)]...Night 5--Italian 70s Crime: Shoot First Die Later, Wipe Out!; Bonus: Hickey & Boggs...Night 6--Italian Epic Adventures: The Huns; Giant of Metropolis...Night 7--Spaghetti Westerns: Arizona Colt; They Call Me Hallelujah...Night 8--Big Pimpin' Friday: Boogie-down classic The Mack; a little-known P. Bogdanovich film called Saint Jack (it was voted Best of the Fest!)...Night 9--Good Ol' Boys: The Walking Tall Trilogy (Walking Tall, Part 2: Walking Tall, and Final Chapter: Walking Tall!); Devil Woman...Sunday Matinee: Go-Go Mania (featuring the bands to watch in '65), and an Awesome Mix Tape of rock movie trailers (inc. 'Boogie Nights', 'Saturday Night Fever', Elvis, 'Spice World', 'The Wall', 'Quadrophenia', and so on...My favorite feature of the entire fest!)...Night 10(!!!)--Hong Kong Kung Fu: Dragon Vs. Snakefist; Dragon Vs. Needles of Death...and, that's everything. In all, I saw 26 films!--The most movies I've ever seen in the space of a week. Now, I am INSPIRED...I want to raid one of those Mom and Pop video stores, in search of old freaky flicks!
