Murphy's portrait appeared on Life magazine in 1945. Awarded Medal of Honor he was recognized by Life as the most decorated soldier of World War II. His book "To Hell and Back" was made into a movie in which he starred. It remained Universal's biggest money maker for 20 years until Steven Spielberg's "Jaws" bumped it. Brown did the poster for "To Hell and Back" and "World in My Corner," another Murphy movie.

Joanne Dru also appears in Brown's "Thunder Bay."
