The film B.OH.I.CA., directed by D.J. Paul, may be viewed as a low budget version of the theme in Platoon (1987) articulated to the experience of a unit of reservists in Afghanistan (though actual filming is at Agua Dulce, not far from Palmdale, CA). The title is the acronym for Bend Over, Here It Comes Again. (In other words, soldiers are fucked again by their superiors.) Most of the movie consists of dialog among four soldiers who are assigned to guard a communication tower in the middle of nowhere and who live on MREs (meals ready to eat) that constipate them. They clearly do not like one another and are unhappy with their assignment, but they learn from one another as a result. Later, a keg of beer is mistakenly dropped by the Air Force and two AWOL Marines join them and depart. But they cooperate heroically while under attack by parties unknown, and the film ends by again demonstrating the relevance of the acronym. To characterize B.O.H.I.C.A. as an anti-war film would be an understatement. MH
