Ocean's 11

Ocean's 11Ocean’s 11 is a remake of Ocean’s Eleven (1960), with George Clooney playing Danny Ocean rather than Frank Sinatra. When the film begins, Danny is discharged from a New Jersey with two goals in mind -- to pull the biggest heist ever and to regain the affections of his estranged spouse Tess (played by Julia Roberts). After reconnecting in Atlantic City with some of his criminal colleagues, he heads for Las Vegas and works out a gameplan with a team of eleven (including characters played by Matt Damon, Brad Pitt, and others). The plan is to penetrate the safe of the Bellagio Hotel, which is run by Terrence Benedict (played by Andy Garcia), who just happens to be Tess’s current boyfriend. The elaborate caper unfolds as planned, but ends with two of Benedict‘s goons hired to follow Ocean, who is reunited with Tess. Directed by Stephen Soderbergh, whose Traffic (2000) focused on corruption in the drug trade, Ocean’s 11 glorifies clever criminals who make off with some $160 million from Bellagio’s earnings, which of course result from the desire of many foolish gamblers to part with their money in the mistaken belief that they are smart enough to beat the odds.
