The Tombstone

The magical feeling fills the air once again, as it’s that special time of the year. Not Christmas, not summer vacation, not even the night after you got a good piece of ass, no no…its WRESTLEMANIA time! Yes folks, the road to Wrestlemania has officially begun, and I’ll tell you a little secret…I DON’T WANT TO WAIT FOUR WEEKS!

Holy sweet crap, what a RAW last night! I will admit right now that No Way Out disappointed me in many ways. The nWo segment was good at the start of the show, and the Triple H/Angle and Jericho/Austin matches were done fairly well, but I just felt like the whole show lacked something. But then…RAW happened…

I asked Adam (the editor) this last night after RAW when I talked to him, and I’ll pose the same question to all of you; if a year ago I had told you that in a year’s time, The Rock would be involved in a segment with not only Hulk Hogan, but Kevin Nash and Scott Hall on RAW, would you have believed me? I wouldn’t have believed me. But yet, last night…in a surreal moment, that saw me marking out like a three-year old at a Sesame Street Live show, we saw Hogan back in a WWF ring, on RAW. That in itself is unbelievable, but then you add in the fact that the Rock came down to the ring and confronted Hogan, and you have some GREAT television there.

So it’s on for Wrestlemania, Hulk Hogan vs. the Rock. Oh my…I can already smell the buy rates. Hell, I’m going to start making plans for a big Wrestlemania party right now. I’ll sit here and admit, I am not and was never the biggest Hogan fan, but seeing him face to face with the Rock, it’s unreal and it compels me.

And, being that I was a huge fan of both Razor Ramon and Big Daddy Cool Diesel, I was marking out equally as hard for their returns. When Hall busted out the Razor’s Edge (Lawler even called it that!!!), I was screaming at the top of my lungs. When it was followed by a Jacknife Powerbomb from Nash and then the leg drop from Hogan, I was freaking out. It is unreal to see these men in the WWF again. THIS is how the Invasion should have gone. Wow. Now if we could just get Shawn Michaels back and have some dream matches between him and some of the new stars, life would be damn near perfect.

Speaking of perfect, despite a less than stellar match, I was also marking out for seeing two of my all-time favorites, Mr. Perfect and Kane, facing each other last night. I’m pulling for Kane to get to face Nash at Wrestlemania, actually. When Kane first showed up in 1997, I remember thinking he could have a hell of a big man match against Diesel (I still don’t like calling him Nash…*sigh*).

Actually, while I’m on a roll, let me just line up the way I would like to see Wrestlemania X-8’s card look…

Triple H vs. Chris Jericho for the Undisputed WWF Title

Two of my absolute favorites in the Wrestlemania Main Event fighting for the Unified Championship, does it get any better? Triple H should and probably will get the win, and complete a successful comeback.

Hulk Hogan vs. The Rock

I already talked about what big news this is, but I’ll say it again…my god…it doesn’t get any bigger than this, except maybe Hogan vs. Austin. I’m not sure who will win this, but the Rock probably should. But you know those sneaky bastards Hall and Nash will be lurking.

Stone Cold Steve Austin vs. Razor Ramon…err…Scott Hall

Just don’t let Hall near Austin’s beer and we’ll have a match for the ages. This is another match I’ve dreamed of for awhile now. Austin would probably win.

Diesel…Kevin Nash…whatever.. vs. Kane

Not only would this be a good match, it’d be kind of ironic, because Kane portrayed the “fake” Diesel in 1996/early 1997 when the WWF was trying to make WCW look bad. I hope Kane would win this, but I think Nash would.

Ric Flair vs. the Undertaker

It seems this is almost a lock after last night’s RAW. That’s a good thing though, because although it might be disturbing to see two old men in the ring wrestling each other, these two (I think) have never met up before. I see Undertaker winning this, to keep his undefeated Wrestlemania streak alive and well.

Mr. Perfect vs. Kurt Angle

Yes…this match would rule all. Enough said.

Now that…is a dream card. One that couldn’t have happened a year ago, or even a few months ago for the most part. So let’s get on to the other matches that we could see…

The APA vs. Tazz/Spike for the Tag Team Titles

That’s assuming Spike and Tazz keep the belts until WM. Should be an interesting match if it does happen.

Edge vs. Regal for the IC title

If this match happens AGAIN, which I am afraid it will, they’d better put it inside a cage or something to make it worthwhile. I see Edge winning in his hometown crowd. Although, I’d actually like to see Christian and Edge go at it in some type of specialty match seeing that they’re both Canadian, and I think it would be more entertaining than Regal and Edge again, but we’ll see.

Beyond that, I’m hoping for Booker T, Trish Stratus, the Dudley Boyz, and Rob Van Dam, among others, to find a spot on the Wrestlemania card. It’s going to be a jam packed show, and I CAN’T WAIT!

Until next time…
