I'm going to start with the current "undefeated" WCW Heavyweight Champion, Goldberg. Lots of people all over the internet say "Goldberg sucks", and yeah, he does. I couldn't agree more. The man has 4 moves, none of his matches seem to go over 2 minutes in length, and yet somehow the announcers call him "the man", "the future of pro wrestling", and other crap like that. I think he has around a 130 "undefeated streak", but the question is, who the hell has he beaten?! He beat Hulk Hogan, Curt Henning (who by the way is two of the numbers in that streak) and maybe 1 or 2 other people who aren't just complete jobbers. The fact is this, Goldberg is overdone, way overdone. He beats jobbers, gets a title shot, and suddenly he is "the man"?! Not in my book.
Alright, since I just talked about the WCW Champion, I'll talk about the WWF Champion, Stone Cold Steve Austin. Lately, I have been tiring of Steve Austin. He may have won the belt at Wrestlemania XIV, but he may as well have been WWF Champion since June of 1997, because starting around that time, no one paid much attention to anyone else, even though the Undertaker, Bret Hart, and Shawn Michaels all held the belt in that period of time before Austin did. Stone Cold Steve Austin used to really mean something, he would come out on a Monday Night, and find some really creative ways to call people piece of you know what. That's what the quote of the week the past couple of weeks on the main page has been, vintage Austin, before the baby face stuff. Even if Austin won't admit it, it's all about pleasing the fans now, the "hell yeah"s and the other fan interaction isn't something that Austin would be doing if he was a ture "bad ass". I've liked Austin since late 1996, because of his wrestling style, and his interview skills, but it seems that leading up to Summerslam, he is slipping, and he is also getting over pushed. Austin comes out on a Monday now, and he calls Vince a jackass, or he gives someone the finger, then he leaves. Austin used to wrestle most Monday Nights, and he used to give good interviews. As far as me saying he is overpushed, you can't tell me otherwise! You look at the ads the WWF runs, they've got the ad for the WWF War Zone video game, and who do you find on that commercial? Stone Cold. You look at the package of the video game, it has Austin on the cover and it even says "featuring Stone Cold Steve Austin". As if you need to put it on the cover. It's just an example of over exposing this guy. It happened with Hulk Hogan too. The WWF pushed him and gave him to the fans until people couldn't take it anymore, and that's a big part of why a lot of people can't stand the guy today, they just got sick of him. I wouldn't think that the WWF wants that to happen to Austin. My advice, if the WWF actually read this, would be to let the Undertaker, or Kane, or someone have a nice run with the World Title, and let Austin have the back seat for awhile.
I know I've griped about if in my past two columns, but I can't seem to stay away from this topic, so here goes....Sable. She IS NOT a good female representaive for the WWF, she does not deserve such a big push, and she is NOT as good looking as Sunny. Basically, Sable has very poor mic skills, she doesn't look that great if you ask me, and she doesn't have any real involment in an angle, yet because she is willing to show her breats on a Pay Per View, she gets a huge push and a huge crowd response. The WWF didn't keep Sunny happy, and that was stupid. She's in ECW now because the WWF would rather waste THE best female talent in the business by having her ref mini matches and ring announce than give her a decent angle or a decent team to manage. The LOD is a good team and all, but Sunny wasn't right with them. She was right with the Smoking Gunns and the Body Donnas, but not the LOD. Just a few months ago there was a RAW Magazine that featured Sunny and Sable both in revealing poses to kick off that mag going monthly. Sable had to show a lot more, wear a lot less to get the same reaction Sunny gets by keeping more clothes on. Ahhhh...I'm getting a headache thinking about this again...I'd better move on.
Back to the WCW...or whatever. I'm going to talk about the nWo(s). That's one thing right there, they act like the nWo and WCW are two seperate companys, and that just isn't the case. But that's not what I'm going to talk about. You've got the nWo Wolfpac, and you've got nWo Hollywood. Well, I'm sick as hell of the nWo period. You can split them up, you can slap Sting, Bret Hart, and Lex Luger in there, and it still makes me sick. This angle has been going for over two years, and it is so damn old that I really want to puke every time I see one of those idiots wearing a nWo shirt. I can't really explain how damn irritated I get when I think of the fact that this stupid angle, (which by the way is only making the WCW any money because they fed off of the WWF to start with), has been going for over 2 years! You NEVER see the WWF carry an angle out that long, and there's a really good reason for that, people get SICK of it! You think the WCW started losing the ratings by accident?! HELL NO! They are losing because no one gives a flying f*** about the nWo anymore! It's old! It's boring!
Mankind recently gave an interview on Sunday Night Heat complaning at the fans about how he could never please them, about how hard he works, about the fact that he damn near killed himself at KOTR and didn't get much credit for it. I have to agree with the man. I said it a couple of columns ago, I'll say it again, Mick Foley deserves a WWF title reign! Not a tag team title reign, a HEAVYWEIGHT Title reign! I have always and I will always respect Mick Foley for what he does in the squared circle. He may not get any pyro or a huge crowd reaction, but from talking to people I know, he has respect. He damn sure has mine!
Conspiracy? I don't know, but I almost hope so! Kane and the Undertaker would be one HELL of a tag team, plus I like both of them, so whether Kane would be to turn face, or Undertaker heel, it'd work for me one way or another. Those guys would be unstopable! Although, I think it would be a mistake for the WWF to turn Undertaker heel considering along with Austin, the Undertaker sells loads of merchandise. Turn him heel and you lose a lot of money! On the other hand, if they find a way to turn Kane face, Kane would start selling merchandise like crazy. Whatever the case, Undertaker and Kane as a team would kick some serious ass!
I'll end it with a little more about the WCW, about Bret Hart. The WCW has no idea how to use this guy in angles and such. Bret Hart was a main eventer in the WWF, a 5-time Champion, and known for being a guy who never submitted, never gave up, and to my knowledge, he never really lost a title fairly. Now I see him over in WCW SUBMITTING to Lex Luger! It's just a load of crap. It's amazing what Bischoff was willing to pay for someone who will wrestle every two months on tv and job to Luger. Gees...I think I'd better go take some asprin!
That's it for this round....until next time....Rest In Peace! Or BURN IN HELL! Take your pick!
