Maybe I should give you my story of how I got on board this fine newsletter. I was in a chat room on IRC with Adam and former co-editor Travis. Travis had invited me there, he had made my aquantaince on another newsletter we had worked on. As the chat progressed, Adam mentioned that he thought I seemed like I could bring something to his newsletter. We chatted about it, and before long, I had signed up as a Thunder Reporter and Columnist for the 3:16 Report. That was in December 1997. As the months progressed, I slowly worked my way up the ladder. First I was bumped up to Associate Editor and News Reporter. Then, as the relationship between Travis and the 3:16 Report staff became increasingly hostile, I was bumped up to Co-Editor and Webmaster, and I dropped the Thunder Report. Then, in June (I think) of 1998, Adam told me the newsletter was done. Now as we speak, not only am I the Co-Editor, the webmaster, and a columnist, but I am also a very handsome man. Anyway...
Now then, getting back to the way things are different two years ago compared to now, let's take a look at two years ago. Now, don't get me wrong, we presented a great newsletter two years ago, but it is my belief that because of both mine and Adam's maturity level (or lack thereof), among other factors, that we could have presented a much better product than we did. BUT, it was still a hell of a lot better than 90% of the newsletters of the time. Two years ago, I had zero understanding of marketing myself right, zero self confidence (which is a must if you're going to deal with people, whether in real life or on the internet), zero writing skills, and zero (okay, maybe some) web design or graphic design skills. What I did have was a willingness to try, a desire to make a good product, and I volunteered to do a Thunder Report for the newsletter, which no one else was stupid enough to do, so I was in.
Believe it or not, I'm almost done. I know, thank god, right? I promise, this isn't going to be a regular thing. I felt that this being the return issue of the 3:16 Report, I should do something to commemerate that. As the Co-Editor of this fine newsletter, I'd like to thank you for subscribing; as a columnist, I'd like to thank you for reading my thoughts. And I swear, next time, I'll write a real column about wrestling. Okay? Until next time...
