First off, it seems that Mick Foley’s relationship with the World Wrestling Federation is all but over now. His shoot style promo on RAW last Monday is said to have been his last appearance on WWF TV in all likelihood. I can’t blame Mick for getting frustrated with the WWF, but at the same time I think he’s making a mistake if he thinks he can be a big time author without the WWF marketing machine behind him. Mick is a great writer, I’ve loved everything he’s written thus far, and if he is done with the WWF, I’ll still buy his books after he’s gone from the WWF, but I don’t think the general public will. They won’t know, and may not care, about a book written by Mick if it isn’t pushed and plugged by the World Wrestling Federation. But, we’ll see.
Now then, that’s the bad news. The good news is that apparently WWFE is having heavy talks with Ric Flair. Yes, the Nature Boy himself! Apparently Flair may be on WWF TV as soon as this Monday if the deal gets finalized. But, Flair stands to lose a lot of money if he gets out of his AOL Time-Warner contract, so take that for what you will.
One way or another, it’s being said that this Monday’s RAW will be huge, captivating, exciting television, with huge changes in direction. I sure hope so, because the only direction the WWF has gone for a few weeks now is straight down.
I loved both Mick Foley and Paul Heyman’s shoot style promos on RAW and Smackdown respectively. Both rung very true and heartfelt from both men, despite being planned and whatever. Heyman probably really did feel a lot of those sentiments he expressed on Thursday during the years he competed with Vince McMahon. And frankly, the comments about Hogan, Bret, and Shawn; are partially true. I’m not real sure what Tazz choking out Heyman at the end of that speech meant, but hopefully we’ll be seeing Tazz get a real push (and lose some damn weight) finally.
Survivor Series. Well, obviously, no matter who wins, neither company is really “going out of business”, but I’m very intrigued to see what happens during the main event and in the weeks and months following this event. I don’t understand the logic of putting the Big Show in the main event at all, what has he done to deserve a spot in such a huge match? Gained weight? I don’t know, maybe he started to use deodorant again and that’s his reward.
Who do I think will turn on the Alliance and join the WWF? Probably Rob Van Dam. Maybe Austin or Kurt, but I’m sure it won’t be Booker T or Shane McMahon. Speaking of which, why is Shane in the main event instead of DDP? Diamond Dallas Page should have Shane’s spot, and Big Show’s spot should have been given to someone like Edge.
Rumors are swirling around, and one of the ones I’ve heard is that Vince McMahon might help the Alliance win and join the Alliance at Survivor Series. I hope that the WWF writers and the McMahons themselves aren’t stupid enough to play out that angle. That would make NO sense for him to turn, and it might just be enough to make me stop watching the WWF at all. That’s really saying something. Of course, I did say MIGHT :) but seriously, I hope and pray that they won’t try to run that angle.
Just for the hell of it, I’m going to tell you guys how I would book the main event of Survivor Series to go down. We’ll just assume I have to stick it out with the teams as they are now. Okay, so first, I would have the entire Alliance team come to the ring first, and then the Big Show comes down first for the WWF. Before the rest of team WWF gets out there, I would have the Alliance team give the Big Slow a huge beat down with chairs and whatever. Take Big Show out, leave it as 5 on 4. Then, after the rest of the WWF guys get out there and the match is going on, have Undertaker get eliminated first. So now it’s 5 on 3. Then, Kane eliminates Shane McMahon. 4 on 3 now. Have Booker T take out Kane, leaving it Jericho and Rock vs. Booker T, RVD, Austin, and Angle. Have Jericho take down RVD, and Rock take down Angle. So now we’ve got Austin and Booker T vs. Rock and Jericho. Things are even again, but then the referee gets knocked down. So Shane runs back out with a chair and helps Austin and Booker T take out Jericho and Rock. Austin covers Jericho, just as the ref comes to, and Jericho gets eliminated. Now it’s Booker T and Austin vs. the Rock, 2 on 1. So Booker T is dominating the Rock, until RVD runs down and just as Austin and Booker are about to get the win, pulls the ref out of the ring and nails him with a kick to the face. RVD is the one turning! But, with the referee down, Angle and Shane come back out, and Austin and Booker help Angle and Shane to beat down RVD and the Rock. Undertaker and Kane come out and clear the ring of all the illegal Alliance guys. But the damage has been done, Rock is hurt, and it’s still two on one. Somehow though, the Rock manages to get enough power for a Rock Bottom and the cover, the referee of course has just come to, one, two three…Booker is gone, it’s Austin vs. the Rock now. Austin attacks the still hurting Rock, and manages to lock him in the Sharpshooter right in the middle of the ring. As the Rock looks like he’s going to give it up, “The Game” by Motorhead hits the speakers. Austin is shocked! He drops the Rock and looks toward the ramp for Triple H, but The Game comes charging out of the crowd, nailing Austin from behind. The commentators scream that Triple H must be taking the place of the Big Show, who was never officially eliminated. So Triple H hits the Pedigree on Austin, 1, 2, 3! WWF wins, and Triple H is BACK!
I don’t know if that would even be possible, as I’m not sure if Triple H is healthy enough, but come on…that’d be f**king awesome.
Until next time…
