"You're having a party and you didn't invite me?" he said, sticking out his lower lip and pouting. Lindsey laughed in his face.
"It's not a party, Aaron dear," she said. "It's called a study session for MacGregor's killer exam. You're welcome to join us."
Aaron made a face. "No thanks. I'll fail it on my own, if you don't mind." He strode into the room and told everyone to shut up. Then Aaron turned around and saw Alison hovering in the doorway.
"Why're you over there? Come'ere," he ordered, beckoning her with his arm. Alison stepped into the room and headed over to where Aaron was standing.
"This is Alison," said Aaron, indicating Alison. "She's new here."
"Uh, we coulda figured that out on our own," said a dark haired guy named, believe or not, Max. He grinned at Alison and said hello. Then everybody else introduced themselves. They were, in essence, Beth, Vinnie, Colleen, and Rob. Lindsey told the Aaron and Alison to take a seat, but Aaron shook his head.
"I'm gonna introduce her to everybody else here first," he said. "But we'll come back to help you guys memorize this stuff." He grinned and then took Alison's hand, leading her out of the room and over to room number 15.
"Okay, Zimmer funfzehn," said Aaron, standing before the door. He turned around when he heard his name being called from the end of the hallway. It was Erin, holding a bowl and looking frantic.
"Aaron! You got any tomato sauce?" she asked.
Aaron rolled his eyes at Alison, who smiled, and then turned to look at Erin. "Yeah, Eri. I just carry that stuff around with me."
"Well, I need it! I'm all out and I'm in the middle of Max's pizza!" whined Erin.
"Go ask Trey," suggested Aaron. "He keeps weird things in his room."
"Yeah, like Alyson," commented Erin, heading over to Trey's room. She winced at the sound of the music blaring through the door and contemplated a white pizza for Max. Then shrugging, she pushed open the door and headed in. Aaron and Alison watched from the end of the hallway.
"Is it safe for her to go in there?" asked Alison aloud.
Aaron laughed. "Probably not. But it's her funeral, not mine." He raised his hand and knocked on the door. A blond guy answered, holding a glass of blue liquid in his hand.
"What?" said the kid, sipping the stuff. He gagged and spat it back into the glass.
Aaron raised his eyebrows. "Not good, Gabe?" Gabe shook his head, still gasping for air.
"What is it?" asked Alison, looking curiously at the blue stuff. It was bubbling slightly.
Gabe caught his breath. "It's a mixture of blue Kool-Aid, Sprite, lemonade, club soda, and orange juice," he said.
Aaron looked like he was going to vomit. "What in the world possessed you to make that?" he asked.
Gabe grinned. "Erin wanted something original to drink with her pizza. This is definitely original. But I'm not sure she's going to want to drink it. You Alison?"
Alison nodded. "Yeah, that would be me."
"Welcome to Hanklin," said Gabe. "Want some?"
Alison shook her head 'no' frantically. The last thing she wanted in her system was that concoction.
"Damn. I'd better go dump this stuff before it starts to chemically react or something," continued Gabe He held the glass away from him cautiously and shut the door.
"I take it Erin's pizzas are a big deal around here?" said Alison. Aaron nodded.
"They're usually better than Domino's or Little Caesars," he said, crossing the hall and knocking on door 16. Nobody answered so Aaron knocked again. When he still didn't get an answer, he shrugged.
"Guess Sarah's not around," he remarked, and then guided Alison back down the hall towards Erin's room.
"What about those other rooms?" asked Alison.
Aaron rolled his eyes. "Keith's in 17, Matt's in 18, and Carly's in 19. They're snobs. And they don't strike me as the type of people you'd like."
Alison widened her eyes in surprise. "You know what kind of people I like?"
Aaron gave her a look. "They're Ele's friends," he said simply.
Alison shut up. Aaron was probably right. If they were Ele's friends, she probably wouldn't like them. She could usually tell right away if she would get along with someone and she hadn't sensed a feeling of great warmth from Ele. So, instead of pursuing the issue further, she followed Aaron down the hall to Erin's room. The door was open and they could see that she wasn't back from her quest into Trey's room.
"If she doesn't come out in five minutes, I'm calling the cops," said Aaron, jokingly. But when she didn't come back, he frowned. "Come on," he said to Alison. He led her to Trey's door and opened it. Then he started laughing: Trey was on the floor, digging around under his bed, Erin was literally ripping his desk apart, and Alyson was standing back, looking at the both of them like they were completely out of their minds.
"What are you people doing?" asked Aaron, stepping into the room. Trey poked his head out from under the bed, his hair that he was normally proud of completely messed up.
"Eri needs tomato sauce," he said, then put his head back under the bed. Aaron raised his eyebrows at Alyson questioningly.
"Don't ask me," she said, putting her hands in the air. "I have no idea why he would keep tomato sauce in his room. I'm just minding my own business."
"Well, you should be helping to search!" called Trey from under his bed.
"What am I? Your slave?" asked Alyson.
Trey crawled out from under the bed again and smiled at her. "Yep. Now go check my closet."
"No way!" yelled Alyson. "I am not going in there!"
"Why not?" asked Erin from Trey's desk. She was pulling apart his filing cabinet now.
"Have you ever opened his closet?" asked Alyson.
Erin shook her head no.
"Think of an avalanche of clothing and other assorted items."
"What were you doing in his closet?" asked Alison.
Alyson smiled at Alison and walked over to Trey, putting her arm around his shoulder. "Trey has really nice clothes. I wanted to borrow a shirt. I will never do that again. I think he has it booby-trapped just so no one takes his stuff."
"You're right," said Trey, his hand on the closet door. He'd given up on Alyson and had decided to open it himself. He hadn't opened it in a month. When it opened, he knew why. Clothing, boxes, shoes, board games, CD's, cassettes, a tennis racket, two basketballs, a soccer ball, and about twenty posters fell out on him and Alyson.
"D'ya ever hear of Spring Cleaning, Trey?" commented Alyson, kicking the soccer ball out of her way.
Trey stared at her and then looked at the ball. "I was wondering where that was." He picked it up and threw it at Alison, to test her reflexes. She caught it and grinned.
"You play soccer?" she asked.
"Occasionally," replied Trey. "You?"
"All-State Champion," said Alison.
"Oh, then you'll get along with Aaron wonderfully," said Erin. "He's a soccer fool. And I emphasize the word fool."
Aaron stuck his tongue out at her and she made a face back. Then Erin turned to Alyson. "Any tomato sauce in there?"
Alyson rooted through Trey's belongings (much to his protest) and came upon a heavy shoebox. Opening it, she found tons of letters and a can of tomato sauce. She gave Trey an odd look.
"You keep the weirdest things in the strangest places, Trey," said Alyson, showing the tomato sauce to an overjoyed Erin. Then she lifted out one of the letters. "What're these?"
Trey's eyes bugged out and he grabbed the box from Alyson, tackling her to the floor. She shrieked and tried to get up but Trey kinda had her pinned down.
"Give me the letter," he said, holding Alyson down.
"Get off me!" she yelled, wrestling with Trey. Alison, Aaron, and Erin looked on, laughing at the scene. Alyson narrowed her eyes at Erin. "Don't just stand there! Help me!"
Erin snickered. "I thought you wanted him on top of you, Alley!"
Alyson glared at Erin and wriggled on the floor, still trying to get all 130 lbs of Trey Parker off of her.
"Give it to me!" said Trey, grabbing for the piece of paper Alyson had clutched in her hand.
"Not until you get off me!" shouted Alyson.
"Do they always act like this?" asked Alison. Aaron nodded.
"Mmm hmm," he responded, matter-of-factly. He didn't seem to acknowledge Alyson's pleas for help, he was so used to the way the two of them acted . . .
"What's in the letter?" asked Erin, smirking at Trey's attempts to get the paper back.
"None of your business!" he bellowed, still trying to grab it.
"Eri, would you please get him off me?!?" cried Alyson, struggling. She was used to wrestling with Trey but this was ridiculous!
Erin sighed. "Fine. I have to do everything around here!" She grabbed Trey by the shoulders and tried to lift him off Alyson. Didn't work. She was unable to lift 130 pounds at that moment, so Aaron helped her, showing off his biceps to Alison at the same time. Amazing coincidence, don'tcha think? :) The two of them succeeded in removing Trey and Alyson scrambled to her feet, not wanting to be body-slammed again. She held the paper up, trying to decipher Trey's handwriting.
"Trey, your handwriting sucks," she said. "I can't read this!"
Trey snatched the letter out of Alyson's hand. "Good, cause I don't want you to."
"What is it?" asked Alison.
"None of your business either!" snapped Trey, putting the letter back in the box and then placing the box in the back of his closet.
"Sorry," said Alison, taken aback.
Trey sighed. "Don't be. I shouldn't have snapped at you. It's just private, okay?"
Alison nodded in understanding.
"You know, Trey," said Alyson, "you could've just told me you didn't want me to read it. You didn't have to tackle me."
Trey grinned. "But it was so much fun!"
Alyson rolled her eyes and handed the much-sought-after can of tomato sauce to Erin. "Here. Go make me a pizza."
Erin smiled happily. "Okay! Thanks Trey!" she said and bounded out of the room.
Trey turned back to Aaron and Alison. "Did you guys want something?" he asked.
"Uh, no," said Aaron. "We were just looking for Eri. We'll be going now." With that, he and Alison backed out of the room. In the hall, Alison glanced at Aaron. "They're really always that weird?"
Aaron laughed. "Believe it or not. Trey's really hyper all the time and Alyson can get super hyper really easily, especially if she drinks Kool Aid. So, if you see them eating a lot of sugary foods, stay away from them. It's kinda scary."
Alison burst out laughing and headed for the stairs.
"Where ya going?" asked Aaron, following her.
"You're gonna give me a tour of the grounds," said Alison, walking down the stairs. Aaron stared at her and then proceeded to follow her, grinning.
