It's official...

Friday, November 1

Back from my week in central Ontario. My friend, G, is a really hard working dude! He puts in 70+ hrs/wk ... feel sorry for the guy but he's a pharmacy OWNER. That is some hardcore stuff. I helped him out and also had a chance to hang out with him (about 1.5 yrs ago we moved out of residence). Also visited T.O. (Toronto, ON) for a mini-holiday. Also reminisced with some of my New College gang. It's almost incredible to think I was there that long ago! Happy to see them all and to catch up on everyone's whereabouts, etc.

Well, I finally did what I had to do -- I put my letter of resignation to the hospital. It was probably a long time coming but I had to make sure this was right for me. Lots on my mind but I think this is the correct decision. A lot is going on in the life of Soong -- a little more than I care to share in this forum. (I don't mind being personal but when it gets a little too close ... my friends and family will know about it but the general public... sorry).

As for things here -- trying to get back into the swing of things -- work hard and save some bucks for the holiday season. Don't think I'll be going anywhere warm this Christmas -- I will do some relief work (at a premium, of course). Have a job lined up in the county (Amherstburg) -- it's about a 1/2 hr drive from my house and they are desperate for help. Maybe I can take advantage of the situation...

That's about it here. Write me if you have anything cool to report...

Back from TO...

Monday, November 11

Back from the w/e in TO. Got invited by my classmate (and good friend), Jean, who got married. I have never attended a Korean wedding and that did pique my curiousity. The wedding went without a hitch -- it was predominantly in Korean (language barrier) but the context of things -- it was entertaining.

The reception was way uptown (Highway 7 & Jane) so it took a while to get there. The map provided didn't help much -- had to go all along Highway 7 to find the place. I was kinda embarrassed when we arrived 1.5 hrs late. My friend (just friends) forgot to bring the card (I had mine, they forgot theirs) so we looked high and low for any convenience store / drug store for a substitute card. We eventually found one but a lot of gas was burned...

On Sunday, I went to the last Acura TL Toronto meet for the year. Weather was not bad (mild but close to raining) considering it is November. Took some pictures and will post it on the 'net some time today. Good turn out -- I wound up with a pair of cleared corners (lenses for the front lights). Won't install it on the TL until next spring -- don't want water to build up and cause a short in my xenons. They held up for the guy I bought them from but you never know when you talk about resealing the factory seal!

Sunday, November 17

A week in review ... it was a fairly light work week. Worked 3 days at the hospital and had Wednesday, Friday and the weekend off. Boy, do I pamper myself or what?! Days at work was not that remarkable -- did my own thing and got my work completed -- 'nuff said.

On Wednesday, I went over to Detroit with my folks to do a little early Christmas shopping. Went over to this place called Great Lakes Crossing. Quite a few nice stores in there -- only came out with a hawaiian shirt from a Polo clearance store. Not bad considering I only shelled out US$5 for it!

On Friday, I essentially lazed around the house. We went out for dim sum -- I was quite surprised to see so many people eating out... perhaps it was a Friday thing. Went to get my flu shot (long overdue) at the doctor's office. I am quite surprised at how painless my brother gives shots. Kudos, Pat! I did a quick trip to the mall to do a little scoping out stuff for the PlayStation2 -- I learned that would be my Christmas present. Doing some research on games, etc. Pat had to go to a medical conference in TO so I drove him to the airport. Not bad when the Ontario gov't is footing the bill!

This weekend, it was another laze-fest. Brilliant! I attended the Shoppers Drug Mart Christmas party Saturday night. Pretty good time -- it was quite nice to see people in a festive / partying mood. I was surprised to see another side of people that I've never seen before -- all for the better because it builds comradery among staff. Great for morale, that's for sure. Also did a little networking for my new business -- the self-employed game.
